Objectdock .99 Coming Soon!

I found this over at neowin.net. The thread is here.

Frogboy:

ObjectDock 0.99 is nearly done. The new features in it will be opening up the docklet support so that others can make them (ObjectDock has always had docklets but the plugin standard was private until we finalized the spec). It will also allow for tiling of backgrounds as well as some other changes we'll be adding to move it in its own direction as to not be too "close" to the Mac dock.

ObjectDock is freeware and will remain freeware.

Edit: Just for clarification, Frogboy is the owner of Stardock.

I wonder if that is good or bad...

ObjectDock is freeware and will remain freeware.

This is indeed exciting!

#45352

really looking forward to this release, im betting its gonna make me switch again.

#45478

How about drag and drop files to dock objects....PLEEEEZE????

#45685

It looks like the .99 released is really focused on the docklet feature. Not really sure about any other enhancements.

Woooooooooooooooo :) Great news here !

I think I'm going to start docklet dev again :)

Albeik, is there an ability to manage icons with a docklet in OD ?

#45779

Manage Icons? If you mean, the ability for a docklet to let the user select and icon via OD's Select Image Dialog, then yes. In addition, we also talked about the ability for a docklet to restrict a certain folder for its icons and not show all folders in the Select Image Dialog.

I am not sure if thats what you meant!

#45795

Lol no, I mean create/delete icons (object) from one docklet.

#45805

:shy: Yes, it is possible using GDI+. One feature I like is the ability to have more than 1 instance of a docklet from one DLL file. Instead of copying the DLL file multiple times in Y'z Dock.

#45807

I`d really like to be able to have more than one OD running at the same time :shy: I keep asking for it but nobody`s listenig

Albeik can you pm me or mail me the specs of the SDK plz ?

I'd like to give a look :)

#45821

Unfortunetly, I don't have the spec with me. Jeff is still working on it and will release one to me whenever he can. (I beleive prior to the public release). I'll show it to you then! ;)

#45836

This is going to be awesome, any idea on when we possible might expect this release?

As I said in my article that Jeff hinted about an early-next-week release.

So its soon! ;)

Something that I'd like to see in OD is being able to have Trillian in the running apps area, so that I dont have to keep bringing up my taskbar and clicking on the trillian icon in the system tray everytime I want to IM someone...

#46587

Cool, i want separators please!!!!

thanks!!! (Y)

#46596

Oh, just remembered, support for MNG's would be nice, that way we could have animated icons, like the printer icon in OS X's dock.

Please, please, please.

Thanks

That sounds like a job for our resident docklet guru Albeik.

#46638

in trillian's options, you can set whether it appears in the system tray, in the taskbar, or both

#46720

Thanks, found it, but its still only in the taskbar when it's actually displayed on the screen - eg: you click hide and it minimises to the system tray, not to the taskbar.

Another feature I'd like to see is being able to change the text colour for dock items.

#46726

I used OD back to the 0.86 version (I know, still a ****ie!), I'm looking forward to trying out 0.99 - especially if they can code a new mag effect like Mobys / OSX's ....

Just a thought!
