Reflector

Just a little something I've been working on based on a request.

What it is:

A simple drag-and-drop front end to ImageMagick's com object that will flip/mirror

the dropped image, apply a mask then create a new "reflective" png file.

The features(currently):

- drag'n'drop

- mirrored png positioning

- mask selection

- No batching (for a number of reasons)

Planned Features:

- Skinnable

Look for a release within the next week or two.

This looks very interesting mate.

Reflections can be reasonably simple to do with your fave photoshop type program, but it can be a bit time consuming and sometimes a little frustrating.

If your app works as cleanly as it promises, then you have done us all a great service.

Looking forward to seeing the final product.

Bravo and thanks for sharing

One question I have would be whether people want it to be open to all dimensions?

Before I go ahead and place internal limits like 128,256,512,1024 on it.

I agree but, you'd be surprised on the number of people who don't realize how easy it is. ;)

OMG that looks clean! And what a catchy name! I'm thinking iconstructor for reflections (which is a super thing).

#464441

looks very promising smilez.

i'm not into the leopard emulation scene yet but i would love to have reflective icons on my dock.

#464442

Just threw up a sample of one I did but, people will be able to use their own gradient (white to transparency) masks.

#464448

you should make it so that when it makes a reflection of the icon, the reflection is abruptly cut off. It should fade in.

OR

You could give users that option. That would be cool.

#464452

cool app! cant wait to test! is it only for XP?

#464465

amazin' job!i like it!

#464467

Nice sample icon, I wonder who made that.

#464471

Personally I would prefer to be able to set the image size to one I need.

It always works out that just when you think you won't need a size, the very next day, you find you do!

There are so many things we can do with our current graphics apps, but sometimes a slightly slicker version is what is needed - and this appears to be such a version..

Waiting with anticipation SirSm.....

It is easy, but repeating the process for every new icon you want to use can be a bit irritating. This app seems to be a beauty, in the waiting list now. :)

It should work on Windows 2000 with WSH but, ImageMagick is available for multi-platforms;so, if someone wants to make a version for Apple, Linux, etc I have no problem sharing what I know.

You should be able to do this with custom masks.

Nice sample icon, I wonder who made that.

I wonder? ;)

I had told Andreas a while ago about incorporating such an application to avedesk to use along desklets. Looking forward to your release...

#464544

Looks very nice. I hope you will release it soon.

#464546

Very nice APP ... would love to have me a copy :D

#464554

Thats a real cool one...! Bye bye to the searches made for reflections ;)

#465077

I love it! I'm waiting for it!

Release it soon plz!

#465123

Very sexy app right there.

#466043

Thanks.

Here's an update. I've changed the interface as the other one was overkill.

Basically it will be four steps.

1. Drop Pic

2. Click on Mask

3. Move/Position Reflection

4. Click to create final image.

So, when are we in chance of seeing it released?

#466091

That's exactly what I was looking for in this thread: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=44022

Thank you very much!

I liked the other interface. Too.

I liked the other interface. Too.

So did I but, I'm doing this on a scripting platform not a regular programming environment. Even with scripting the controls it was averaging around 36Mb of RAM in use and around 15Mb static which is way to much. Now when not in use it comes in at 500Kb on my computer.
