actually turning off guest people wont be able to see the mainpage, half the content will not show up, and dont say they are not giving back to the community as an excuse cause 99% of the people that are regged sure as hell dont.

As I stated before, the benefits of this, can outway the risks. Guests, can see just enough to whet their appetite, to ge them to register. I thought it would be nice to keep prying eyes away from the developments going on, as in nAmp Itunes etc.

If guests are not allowed in this place at all, or if someone needs to register in order to download stuff from here etc, what will happen? AquaSoft will end up with a few more hundreds of users, so inactive that will cause the mods to start filtering members and deleting accounts.
Judging after my experience, being forced to register in order to browse the forums or get the "goodies" from a site, is something I find very annoying. Having one more password to remember, filling forms with personal info etc., and all this for a site I don't intend to be an "active" member of. I became a member of AquaSoft because I wanted to, and enjoyed all those months feeling a part of this.
If bandwidth is the problem and ads is a solution, then just deliver more ads to guests. Restricting access to forums or projects under development won't prevent anyone willing to harm AquaSoft to do so.

Ok, riddle me this: WHich is more annoying, having to take a full minute out of a users day to make them register, which aggrevates them to no end because they are getting free applications and graphics that are hard to find anywhere else, OR is it more annoying to spend weeks, sometimes months, working on a project, finding and paying for space to upload your hard work to, then have people take your work by the hundreds, all the while complaining about how they spent a minute logging in instead of saying thank you?
In a perfect world, Candide would log in and say thanks for all the goodies instead of opening his pie hole to complain like a whiney spoiled brat. But thats a perfect world...
A registered user isn't necessarily a greatful one, too!

fewer bandwidth issues.
Knowing WHO is here and where they are from.
Less issues with legal types.

I think guests should beable to lurk but to an extent. At one time I was a guest and browsed this site and I found out that I really I liked this site so I became a member.
