Addshadow

Originally posted by GameBoyzGB@Nov 1 2003, 03:53 PM

For those requesting a link to AddShadow. I don't have Jef's originally zipped versions so I put together both old and newer ones including my ini file so it's up to you guys which app you want to use.

Some of the programs in my ini include QCD Player, Felix, Trillian, ASticky, iTunes, Windows Media Player, About This Mac (Panther) and the Windows Taskbar.

Get it right here.

Thank you very much!

A problem with AddShadow.

I put it in the startup menu.

I discovered that this app can be closed but the shadows remain enable (for example the taskbar shadow).

Ok i also discovered that this app slows down several apps; when you open the Windows Explorer you have to wait about 1-2 seconds, same behaviour concerning the folders; if you double click a folder icon to open it in a window then you have to wait 2 seconds...

By the way no way to start and stop this AddShadow automatically ?

ok guys I wrote a little .cmd script file (nt script)

just put this in your qcdplayer directory and link it from your dock.

It opens both qcdplayer and addshadow.exe.  The shadow gets registered, then the script shuts down addshadow.exe.  You must have addshadow.exe addshadow.ini and this script all in the root directory of qcd 3

Works great for me milage may very.  you will get a quick dos cmd pop up that flashes when you launch the bat file of course.  basically I have the bat file with and itunes icon.

and I'm all set now :)  You may need to reset your default folders in qcd options when launching this the first time.

get it here

Who have it jet?

I really need it. :cry: :cry: :cry:

Sorry Anngel, you must use winfx to enable add a shadow. I really wish it worked for Y'z shadow. :(

I take it that you're using Y'z. Winfx automatically shadow's Kazaalite for you, so you don't have to mess around with Add A Shadow.

#210264

no, i'm using winfx but i'm using a skin for kazaa(glass) and winfx doesn't shadow it

#210611

You need to find out the window class for the window before you can add it. I use winspy to do that.

That's weird. I'm using the same skin right now for kazaalite, and everything is shadowed. Does anyone else have this same problem? Hmmm....Try adding this to Add A Shadow's .ini file.....Class=KaZaA. You might have to type it the same way shown with the upper/lowercase letters. Hope that works for you.

Sorry for bumping back this old thread, but is it possible to get it to add shadows to all of the windows in Photoshop CS? Also, I can't get it to add shadows to QT or the taskbar.

Thanks

For -the-love-of-our-dear-lord-in-heaven-Jesus-Christ- Is there and way to add a shadow to BSplayers borderless video window?

for the love of our prophet,

#338003

Dude... you can ask questions without being an ass!!! Anyway.. if you are using WinFX, Addshadow will do the trick if you use the name in the titlebar of the window you want to add the shadow to OR if you know the class name of the window.

#338011

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am afraid that it is not that simple.

The window is a borderless (so also titlebarless) video window.

Using winspy I find that the window class is BSPVideoWindow and the Window Name is VideoWindow.

I tried every possible combination in the addshadow.ini file, upto and including:

Class= BSPVideoWindow

Class= VideoWindow

Class= BSPlayer

Class= BSPlayer.exe

Class= C:Documents and SettingsGoldDesktopNew Folder (6)bsbsplayer.exe

Caption= BSPVideoWindow

Caption= VideoWindow

Caption= BSPlayer

Caption= BSPlayer.exe

Caption= C:Documents and SettingsGoldDesktopNew Folder (6)bsbsplayer.exe

Quicktimeplayer also refuses to shadow, even after trying longshots such as,

Class=ATL:0C686598

Caption=ATL:0C686598

In the .ini file.

I have tried all I know, using both addshadow and addshadow2.

Since you are the creator of this utility to you have any further advice?

Try it yourself:

http://www.bsplayer.org/index.php?p=downlo...2e21bb6344b10d9

Free version down the page.

Disable video borders in the video options. If we could get this to work it would be the first time that we would have shadowed borderless video's.

PS: Thanks for all the years of skinning Jef!
