If you can make XP look like OS X why not Vista? IF anyone can help me out with this please reply. I have Home Premium by the way, and I want the changes I make to be reversible in case I don't like the look.
Thanks

Use Windowblinds and then download and apply a Mac style windowblinds skin. My personal favorite is Mac OS X Leopard. You can also use ObjectDock for the dock. There's also ObjectBar but I'm not sure about it's compatibility with Vista.
"Make Vista look like OSX"
ohh dear, here we go again...
not that theres anything wrong with trying to do this...
its just.... this thread marks the end of an era- emulation on the Windows XP platform, with the beginning of emulation on the Vista platform...
-And all the new found issues and annoyances that come with it.
hehe...how about a 'make OSX look like Vista' thread? Good luck... I'm interested to see how it turns out.
//Thread Moved.
I guess we don't have a single catch-all thread, but normally, I'd just close this and tell you to look through the whole Vista Discussion forum.
You'll still probably want to do that anyway, but hopefully you get some good responses to your question

hey i did try a make vista look like xp thread, it didn't do so well even though it's easier.

When I tried to install the Windowblinds skin I switched me to windows standard...What's wrong?

you need to buy it instead of trying to crack it, im certain thats your problem ![]()
The Windowblinds trial last for 60 days, after that it will stop skinning your system and revert to the default. Uninstalling and reinstalling it will *not* reset the limit.
Have you had Windowblinds installed before? And yes cracking it is a VERY BAD idea. If you like the product just buy it. It's well worth it.
Okay, I was trying to crack it, but now I realize something, Cracking Windowblinds or any other software is like stealing. And stealing is Illegal and moraly wrong.I realize now why people say buy the software. But Now, I don't have Windowblinds. I'm trying to Install it but I have a black screen, Titled "Windowblinds Configuration" What should I do?
It isn't like stealing, it *is* stealing.
Not sure what to suggest besides completely uninstalling it, then maybe try downloading Stardock Central and installing it that way. If you're having a hard time uninstalling, maybe the Zapper will work.
It's WELL worth the money. Every cent!
Amazing.....
Regardless of that I am writing a "Make Vista look like a Mac" guide and should be up in the next couple of days for the people who are interested.
Aha, I prefer "making OSX look like Vista"... ![]()
Make MacOS's skin in Vista is possible -- I haven't used Mac but I like its skin.
I got resources of Leopard and I gonna make it.
But I haven't imagine what will it look like
I need your idea.
Now that I've ACTUALLY tried using Vista, I can really comment on the interface.
It is very nice, smooth, snappy, shiny and utter Rubbish. Yes, you read that right.
It's like Microsoft UI designers consulted some 15 year old fashion queen school girl. Every effect in application window (the shine, glow in control buttons) is like screaming "Hey look at me, I'm glowing/shining". When you start, you're like WOW, it's fast and cool... but the WOW unfortunately doesn't last long. After a while you really get tired of it. It feels like bothering you in midst of work. It's all just feel like.... so overdone.
But overall, I'm loving the underlying changes in Vista (just to make clear so that Vista fanboys don't rip my head off). The system is very stable, UAC is pain in the ass, new networking interface is confusing at start but once you get hang of it, it's awesome. The icons are nice. One thing I like about UI is that it's snappy and very responsive. The speed really make you feel energized to use it. I wish Microsoft had considered putting, actually less effort in Graphical UI department.
So the point is, I'm all in for making Vista look like OS X. (without using Windowblinds, if possible). I think we should be soon seeing native msstyle (aero) files floating around net.
It would be cool to have a mac skin for vista but i don't think it could be done by editing aero files, could it ?

Most of the Vista themes you are seeing now are just a variation of Aero. The theme system in Vista is different than XP and some of it is hard-coded, so I don't see any OS X themes anytime soon.
This is what I did using WindowBlinds (which runs natively on Vista), and Iconpackager.
If it's HardCoded like you say it is, then it makes sense why there is not much huge load of Vista based themes.
I hope someone finds a way !!
i would say thats a mac skin, you could just use the styler toolbar to cover the tool bar or doesn't it work in vista ? and then delete the shell for the bar at the bottom. i deleted it yesterday and it went away but i dont know what would happen if i restarted it haha.
As I said : make Vista look like OS X is POSSIBLE
Because I ported Leopard's skin to VISTA but the transparent on VISTA is suck -- it's look terrible
So I need the ideas : what will it look like ?
till the tym i had xp, i was using MAC OSX theme. but now that i got vista.. i think i will stick with vista aero ...atleast for some tym.
I find it quite funny (not in an insulting way to the thread starter, more to MS) that people still want to emulate OS X on their so-called revolutionary OS.

Its not impossible.... just needs to get off the ground. Themeui has been cracked.
