boot Ubuntu while running XP

i have recently installed Ubuntu Linux on my second internal Hard Drive.

i love it so far, except for the fact that i cannot boot up Ubuntu while XP is running (eg. when i want to go into Ubuntu i have to restart and boot from that).

I am looking for something that can allow me to boot up Ubuntu while XP is running...sort of like Boot Camp for the Mac, or VirtualPC.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this.

Here is what i thought would work...

Maybe if i can copy the entire disk with Ubuntu on it into a ISO format, then copy it to a blank disk.
Boot up from the disk from an app that can boot up an ISO.

If that doesnt work.....what will? i have seen screenshots of PCs that are running XP, and in a window was a running Linux system (like Ubuntu).

with that you'll be able to set up a virtual computer to run your linux under windows XP

yes VMware is a great program just make sure you close all programs while running it, makes it run better/faster

hmm. so this VMWare....is it free? is it easy to use? are there any other programs that i need to use it?........................do i have to reinstall ubuntu or something to use it....or can i just boot it up from the other hard drive like i would like it to?

i use VMWare for my emulation now, but VMWare is somewhat overrated. It's definitely rather lag-ish, so i suggest you do it with your mac pro, because...well you know what i mean. it's definitely something extraordinary, make sure you also have VMWare Tools installed. If you need more help, PM me.

Yes, but VPC 2007 is only supported to the extent of Windows XP Professional. Sorry bud.

Personally, you can run it on Home Edition, but it isnt supported by MS and it has been proved buggy.

Ubuntu is byfar the greatest. it has excellent eye-candy, has nice out-of-the-box (or should i say out-of-the-ISO, hehe) security. I just love it. download the live-cd and try it out without doing anything to your hard drive.
