#42442

Hi there, I added some new features today:

07/24/2003:
- screen corner activation
- F10 key

07/22/2003:
- cleaned the code (again)
- improved display speed (now uses GDI+ to resize bitmaps in memory and only redraw desktop when needed)
- magnification now keeps original window aspect ratio

07/19/2003:
- display minimized windows as well
- MUCH LESSER memory usage which causes a speed gain
- Added the F11 key.
- cleaned the code
- fixed the "no window crash" bug
- now re-hitting F9 will re-show all the windows
- instantly reshow windows when exit if in expose mode

TODO:
- mouse gesture activation*
- auto resizing
- keep window shape*
- fix shadows bug
- fully customizable text layout

*: may not be implemented

For screen corner activation, it's like the real Expose.

And for the F11 key, see in the Panther Video when Steeve Jobs drags a file from the desktop and drop it in a mail window. Same here :) You can grab a file, moove it in a corner to trigger the effect (or press F11 or whatever key set), and drop it.

I have also started a new ini file because my Visual Studio .NET refuses to bring me the properties of objects... So I can't make a config dialog.

So here is the iEx.ini:

[CLASS_EXCLUSION]
SysListView32=0
DXDesk=0
Progman=0

[FILENAME_EXCLUSION]
C:\Program Files\Object Desktop\ObjectBar\ObjectBar.exe=0

[SCREENSHOT_WINDOW]
RectangleColorRed=128
RectangleColorGreen=128
RectangleColorBlue=128
RectangleColorAlpha=200
TextColorRed=128
TextColorGreen=128
TextColorBlue=128
TextColorAlpha=255
TextFont=Lucida Grande
TextSize=20
TextItalic=0
TextBold=1
MagnificationSize=40

[HOTKEYS]
; See joined KeyCodes.htm for the key codes
; For example:
; F9 = 0x78
; F10 = 0x79
; F11 = 0x7A
Thumbnail=0x78
ThumbnailCtrl=0
ThumbnailAlt=0
ThumbnailSelect=0x79
ThumbnailSelectCtrl=0
ThumbnailSelectAlt=0
HideAll=0x7A
HideAllCtrl=0
HideAllAlt=0

[CORNERS]
; 0- Nothing, 1- Thumbnail, 2- Thumbnail Selective, 3- Hide All
UpLeft=0
UpRight=2
BottomLeft=3
BottomRight=1

[GENERAL]
ShowMinimizedWindows=1
IniEdited=0

Thumbnail is F9

Thumbnail Selective is F10

HideAll is F11

Also, for the keycodes, this allows to set the key you want to trigger iEx (for example Alt-Tab if you want).

Expect the release in one or two days :)

Note: I don't post any screenshots coz the app still looks the same lol :)

Great! Glad to see work is coming along nicely.

One question:

What about the yzshadow bug? Has that been fixed or is that still a work in progress?

Thanks.

The bug is also for WindowsFX. And it has not been fixed by now.

EDIT:

Ok, the Y'z Shadow bug is fixed. Actually, iEx makes Y'z Shadow believes the window is moving. So you must check the "Temporarily turn off the drop shadow effect when moving or resizing windows"

But for WindowsFX I haven't found a way to disable the shadows....

Great, I already have this feature turned on. :P

As for drag and drop to the screenshot windows, I don't see the point, cause you can drop in multiple parts of a window.

i think drag and drop to screenshot would be useful cause its easier to find the correct window to drop to. also the ability to close from screenshots is probably essential to reduce clutter (like popups) please fix the windowfx shadow. is there anyway to make the screenshots transparent to the desktop? and the titlebar has a black bar above it where normally it would be transparent. hmm also, is there anyway to keep the windows in screenshot mode, and only have one active window open? it would be cool if windows could be sized to screenshot relative to each other. to prevent copy to windows being super huge while ie windows are really small. make it relative. :D

this is a really neat little program. :rule:

I just wanted to know what do you think if iEx would become a windows service with a control panel config ? Well, just to be fully integrated to windows.

#45781

Great idea siwu... go for it. :own:

#45784

if it's integrated into windows, is animation and such possible?

nope, remember it's still a prog :)

#45861

my dock goes blank when i put my mouse in the top right corner to minimize the window

its yz's 0.8.2

#45882

Yes, i have the same problem with the same dock :cry:

Um, is it possible to use the magnification mode in one of the Docks to do the animation? Sort of like making the whole desktop a big dock.

#52511

hey juno and osx add;

YzDockClass=0 to your iEx.ini class exclusion

also, another common exclusion is for samurize to stay on desktop-add these to your filename exclusion;

C:\Program Files\Samurize\Client.exe=0

or, if you are running a different instance name, it could be, for example;

C:\Program Files\Samurize\weather.exe=0

great idea siwu, i just found it an hour ago.

are you still developing it?

the only bug i've found is that the screeshots it takes are sometimes blacked out, or sometimes partial(almost always if the window is 'rolledup').

finally, has anyone found a way to fix the shadow problem with winfx(i'm using y'z but i prefer the other bc i use objectbar).

thanks again siwu, this is neat :D

actually, it's possible with another 3rd party app, like Hotkey Master. you can create a shortcut to a keyboard button like F9. you could place this shortcut to the dock and when you click it will execute the F9 kbbutton.

You're mistaken. I'm talking about using the "magnification" effect from the docks to do the fluid resizing in iEx.

#52532

sorry, i haven't read the whole post :rolleyes:

it was requested but i don't think it will be implemented soon or ever

#52540

hey there siwu,

great work!!!!! i have a suggestion - i noticed that expose actually dims the background a bit after it moves all the windows. would it be possible to have this as a feature in iex? also, i run windowsfx, i know you have not yet fixed the shadow bug, but perhaps dimming the background would make it less apparent?

thanks again for all the work

#53510

Is there a link anywhere to get the currently released verison of this? I didn't see it in the forums and I would very much like to test it out some.

Thanks!

#61453

i don't know why the link to iEx disappeared but here's my mirror.
