I think miTunes is a bad name cause its just too close. There was a linux media player called xtunes and the developers of that got into big trouble with apple legal cause it was too close. They even had a legitimate reason for the name (x being the graphics server on unix).
imo, miTunes is sure to get you a pretty piece of paper with cease and desist written all over it.

While I agree with you, I think we should let the developer choose the name, and hopefully apple wont "killjoy". I don't care what it's called, I just want a beta

I just thought it might be a good idea to warn the guy. Apple are killjoys from time to time and calling your rip of their software mitunes is a bit like sticking your middle finger up at cupertino.

A bit off-topic, but I think it's interesting to note that Microsoft brought a case against Lindows, due to the similarity in name to Windows. Microsoft argued that, in Joe Consumer's mind, Lindows = so close to Windows as makes no odds, and therefore, Lindows should be forced to change its name.
The court rejected Microsoft's claims, if I remember correctly. In any case, Lindows is still going strong.
Quick questions from an iTunes n00b: Will we be able to hide the library section? I like libraries and all, but it looks like it'll get in the way when I'm not using it. And how are we going to be able to add songs to the library? :baby: *hopes for some sort of search function*
Firstly, I would like to say that the application looks fantastic! I will definitely use this when it's released.
Secondly, I concur with some members here about the name being too close to iTunes. It would just give Apple an additional reason (besides the GUI look) to come down on the program. But the decision is ultimately up to Alilm.

I have discovered that the playlist's grid can be displayed as the one from iPlay (i meen every second line to be light blue).
If you develop it using Visual C++ with MFC here are a few methods you could use :
SuperGrid - Yet Another listview control
XListCtrl - A custom-draw list control with subitem formatting

Well, it was just and ideea, i think that striped lines are not as important as a stable player
I just pointed out that it's possible to modify the list control.
Of course, if it's too much hassle to implement it than we're better off without it, since that's only an interface problem.
For example you could use it in the next version.

Im not a coder at all so i have no clue what this entails but i do believe there are some open source apps out there that sync with the ipod you might be able to look at
if not whatever and i just want to say this is the most amazing app i have seen yet out of hte aqua community

I don't know what he did, but of all the MP3 players on the market, the one made by MrAqua is the best sounding of them all. I've tried just about every player on the market and even the 'Audiophile's choice' Foobar isn't as good sounding. I hope yours sounds as good as MrAqua's player, that would be fantastic.
I know a lot of people think there's little difference between players, but there are in fact huge differences on the right setup. My ears and audio equiptment can testify to that. MrAqua's player really is exceptional sound-wise, looks damn good too.

Well Ive played with the decoder in iSongs to enhance the sound with extra base and treble, it sounds great to me

What setup have you got?
I've got a £5000 setup, and your right, different players do sound different.
