Alrighty, here's what I've got - it's not the best by any means, but definitely decent enough, esp. considering I bought it a year ago. I'm happy with it, considering it's OEM...a vpr Matrix 180R, originally, but I plan to get a second hard drive and more RAM in the future.

@DZ - I like the Norse computer names. Mine's, well, rather Russian, I suppose...:hey_suga:

Svetlana:

----------------------

-Pentium 4 1.8 Ghz

-Intel D845EBT motherboard

-512 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM

-GeForce4 MX 440 64MB with TV-out

-55.9 GB Western Digital server-grade 7200 RPM HD

-6 USB 2.0, 2 FireWire ports

-NEC NR-9200A 40x/12x/40x CD-RW

-LITE-ON LTD163D 16x/48x DVD-ROM

-3.5 inch floppy drive

-Intel Pro/100 VE ethernet card

-v.92 56K modem (useful when I'm at home)

-ADI 1981A Integrated Audio

-random Labtec microphone I got for $10

-vpr Matrix powered speakers

-17" Samsung SyncMaster 753DF monitor

-vpr Matrix PS/2 optical scrolling mouse

-vpr Matrix 104-key PS/2 keyboard

-Logitech ClickSmart 310 webcam

-Canon S300 printer

-Windows XP Home SP1

One of the main benefits to this setup is that the Matrix case, mouse, speakers, and keyboard are beautiful - all silver and black, slightly boxy-on-purpose rather than completely rounded, the speakers almost look like silver-and-black iMac speakers...designed by F.A. Porsche, the guy who designed some of Porshe's most famous cars back in the '60's. Oh, and all blue LEDs...those rock.

sweet_laurel: Svetlana is tight - I like that alot. I'm seeing alot of Mx cards around here. Hmmmm...even my 58 year old father has a Ti...c'mon guys, get with times!

Steph: You're just bad. :woot:

Big thanks go out to Damien for saving my a$$ today. Turns out, I've got new system specs for Thorshammer now:

Shuttle FN41 [black]

AthlonXP 2400+

GeforceFX 5600 Ultra

512mb PC2700 KingstonX

Maxtor 160GB/ 8mb cache/ Liquid bearing ATA133 7200 Ultra drive (8.2ms seek)

Phillips 2400 CD-RW Burner

Samsung 955DF 19" CRT Flat Monitor

Logitech Z-560 5 piece 4.1 Dolby Surround THX Certified

Logitech MX300 Mouse

Logitech BF37 Keboard

4MB Fiber Optic Cable Connection

Turns out, I killed my mobo today. It's not bad PC workmanship, its just me being an idiot - I dropped my board just an inch installing some lighting in my Green Dragon case - just enough to kill it.

I was drafting up a mod this week for this Shuttle system that Damien had sent me. Since I have work to do tonight, I had to be up and running (always finish your work before you mod)...so after countless troubleshooting tips from Damien, I just bought the Shuttle sitting in the corner of my office.

Now my wife has the Green Dragon case (I didnt drop any of her hardware!), and the light looks kick ass. She also has all my silent, expensive fans now...

Any more specs? I know we have more than a few members here

/me doesnt know where to begin... in this room alone theres 7 machines (2 windows servers, 1 mac server, (9150/120) 1 nix server, 3 workstations) in the other 2 bedrooms another 7 machines (2 more servers). In the "den" there is 2 gaming machines (for the boyz) and another machine for POS development... not withstanding the 3 lappys as well... and in the shed..... (glup!) 4 servers 17 other assorted machines in repair/disrepair (btw..... all these "servers" are duels (P3's & 2's), have raided scsi's... loads of mem... blah blah blah..)

and why all these machines?

I have no bloody idea.... it started off when we ran out of space at school...

(the wifey and I teach puter stuff...)

#41161

skitz: Truly a geek after my own heart. Start with your favorite workstation & server, or list the two machines that are interacted with the most.

Or you could just list your most powerful machine, and highlight the post with your oldest machine.

:D

GeForceMX owners: Well, at least you're running nVidia.

DVD Burner owners: Who can recommend a DVD writer? I'm looking for flexibility in the format I write to DVD with a decent burn time without having to sell a child to pay for it.

tHeGreatC0rnH0li0:AGGGHHHH! AGGGGGHHHH!!! AAAH!!!! TP! AGGGGH!!! AAAAH! AGGGHHHH! AGGGGGHHHH!!! AAAH!!!! TP! AGGGGH!!! AAAAH!

Ack - Beavis & Butthead flashback. Does HemingrayPC actually sell hardware?

#41373

Heh heh - I said "Hard"

#41378

@tHeGreatC0rnH0li0: i have that same exact case!!!!!!! it's a really sweet case. you know, for the optical drives, what i did was take the original cover, unscrewed it off the thick beige plastic piece, screwed it back, so the cover was just the clear plastic with the metal sheet.

i created a little bump on the back of the cover to hit the eject button, and then i used some really strong mounting tabs and attached the cover onto the drive. so it looks like there are no drives, and to open it, you just punch it (and the little bump hits the eject button).

oh, and deadzombie: i bought the ti4200. should be good. thanks for the advice. (Y)
