Do You Like The One Button Mouse?

So macs use one button mice. Duh. And I was playing with an iBook today, and I still can't understand why one mouse button is better than two. Simplicity? Hardly. If someone cant handle the occasional right click, they should stick to paper.

And the iMac mice, jeez, how many times have I clicked it by accident? Too many. :nuts:

So, whats your opinion? From what I see, most people like two button. Which do you like? And more importantly, WHY DOES APPLE CONTINUE TO USE ONE BUTTON MICE WHEN OSX HAS RIGHT CLICK?

i personaly cant stand em... and i cant lvie without a scroll wheel.. which those mac mouses dont have... oh well, i dont use a mac anyways

but when i do use em i hate the mouse

my school uses the old imac circular mouse which is so damn hard to use. plus they never clean the ball too!! <_

As Taha says. They just look good. I'm still looking for a 2 button scroll-wheel clear transparent optical mouse that looks as good as the Mac's.

Me too, i cant live without the scroll wheel. I know that if i work on a station with a 3button mouse only, i keep rubbing my finger on the button there cause im just used to the scroll mouse..

So yeah, i use a scroll mouse on my mac. The other mouse i keep next to it. Just incase i fall into a mac zone.

I only get Logitech mice. They seem to be better for some reason. I got a regular no frills 3 button optical logitech mouse recently, Really nice, not laggy at all. Its not very pretty though.

Yeah, I can't live w/o that scroll either. Except I use it so much (virtual desktop switching) that they always wear out. Im thinking of getting one of those mice w/ the touchpad as the scroll.

I think having just one button actually isn't more simple because you have to then use more mouse+keyboard combos. I don't particularly like one button mice. Back when I was very young and the first mac's came out though they where ok.

Thought it's really a matter of opinion which is faster I guess.... pressing a key+button to bring up a menu or just right clicking.

I have a Logitech Mouseman Traveller. The slick aluminum mouse. It suits the TiBook and AlumaBook very well, and it will look great with the new G5.

The Ice Mouse looks pretty nice too. Suits the i- and e-Macs very well:

And yea I like my 5 button mouse.

I also had to use the round mice that came with the old G3s or whatever.

First of they were way too small for my hands.

Then I always lost direction because the damn thing was round.

At least with an oval mouse you can tell which way is up.

Well, i don't care that much. I use a tablet for mouse! But if i HAD to use it, i would throw away the oh-i-so-smart-with-only-one-button mouse and buy another one with as many buttons as it could hold plus scroll wheel. I used that one button mouse before and, god, i hated it!

C'mon, Apple! You make products that people like to use. Your mice aren't one of them! :rant:

well i only can say that i love my optical one button mouse...its a pleasure

to work with it...the occasional right click i do with only one click on my keyboard

(activated keyboard mouse).

yes of course one can say they only look good...but hey, thats what i want

When I used Macs the one-button solution seemed pretty good and I thought that a 2 button mouse would be confusing and 3 buttons crazy. Now that I use a PC , I think the 2 buttons is much better but 3 buttons is still crazy. I got no feelings pro or con on the wheel.

I really do not like the elongated Mac mouse that came with the introduction of the MacOS X.

Obviously, most computer users can handle dual button mice. I dont mind them at all and I definitly use them for wintel boxes because without dual click on wintel boxes you can hardly get around!!

Apple's point is simply this. It is for the new computer user. Not us computer freaks who have used them for years day in and day out. They wanted the Mac to be easily used by people who have never touched a keyboard let alone a mouse. For new users, one button is the only way to go. Then maybe they can graduate to a two button if they feel the need to. But, personally I dont see the need for the two buttons. It doesnt make me feel all MACHO and special just because I have two instead of one. And I dont feel like an idiot with one button. One button is smarter, for new users, because they dont have to worry about which button to click on. They will be focusing on the screen enough, they dont need to they worry about which button they are clicking on the mouse to make work with the screen.

Simplicity, is the simple reason for one mouse button. But, hey, for all you two mouse button users out there that would never touch a one button mouse because their too good for it, GREAT!!! KEEP AT IT!!

Hmmm... not sure!

I'm thinking that right click is so common that a second button is essential, and who can live without a scroll wheel???

But I realized that after I use my 2-button(+wheel) mouse many hours during the day, my right hand feels tired (I had pain a couple of times), while my left hand is ok.

Maybe the Apple way is better for your health... the single-button mouse relieves stress from your fingers (right hand) and divides it to both hands (when, for example, you have to command-click instead of right clicking, etc).

Forgive me abouth this, but I believe the Microsoft Ice mouse looks awesome, especially with an iMac/iBook. I couldn't tell about performance, as I've never tried it (and never will, probably... I hate cordless & optical mice... every mouse needs a tail and balls!)

Try this: Apple realized their mistake and released the pro mouse, and keep the one button around in order to keep the Pro Mouse's value as high as it is.
