New Vista Build

It's highly possible I'm mistaken, but I always that MAC addresses were pretty much impossible to change, regardless of what platform you're using .

-NC

You can do a MAC address change on a NAT'd or virtual connection.

This has been possible since NT 3.51

You cannot change the MAC address of the card itself.

This has never been possible on any OS as it's hard coded in the cards firmware.

yes, i did not mention winamp cuz no one asked and i don't use it. so, i didn't fail at anything. :P

interesting idea about the widgets. does that work for you?

hokey cokey im sorry you didnt fail you never fail, how silly of me to doubt YOU :P

i dont know, i kept vista for a lil while but i realised my 512MB RAM wasnt doing the HD any favours so i got rid of it.

it is an idea, but i've renamed .widget files to .zip files and i've downloaded .zip files that had to be renamed to .part, following that idea on... :)

Hmm, well I am using this tool(http://www.codeproject.com/tools/MacIdChanger.asp) right now and it changes it, I don't know how real the change is... real enough for the stupid cable modem anyway :)

This doesn't actualy change it, it masks/spoofs it in the registry at the OS level.

Nice trick.

Your cable modem is actualy detecting it twice. Once when you power up your system, and again when a DHCP request is made after the OS is loaded.

Just get a programmable switch and you won't have to worry about reg hacks.

Put it in between your PC and your Cable modem and program the switch with the proper MAC address. Then you can plug in as many PC's as the switch will support.

Hmm, I just installed it the idle RAM-Usage is huge. And for itunes it switches of Aero? Weird.

#401042

what do u mean iTunes switches of Aero?? can u post a screenshot?

#401118

some websites switch off aero for me. like if i view the wugnet speed test. in this case, i'm 99% certain it's some java incompatability. it does this in both firefox and ie.

edit: i forgot to mention, itunes does not give me any problems. and yes, multiplugin DOES work. woot!

Yes, Java has problems with Glass. I don't know if Microsoft is going to address that problem or ask Sun to fix their VM :P

#401162

im sure java will update. i would think around rc1 which is due next month..

Now THAT is funny...

#401265

My first thought (and first post) was...

"IT'S ALIIIIVEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"

Looks freakish, no?

#401269

Re; Itunes.........this is not necessarily an improvement.

#401271

if any apps don't work right click / properties / run in compatability mode for / XP / run

#401380

btw, i was wrong about avedesk not working. so far, all the desklets i've tried do work, IF they are not set to 'desktop icon,' which was my default desklet setting.

woot.

#404360

overall I like it but it is a resource hog and even with compatibility to run as xp.... alot of stuff ... most won't run. Logitech keyboard. Avg antivirus is hit and miss. Nero 7 won't install.

#404396

omg what a rip of osx tiger!!!!

#404398

yeh.. because the brushed look is nearly 1:1 with the glass transparent look... i can see how you'd come to that assumption
