As always, f****ing GREAT! Thanks, man!!
CD Art Display RC4 (formerly Winamp CD Case)
Changing the subject a little bit here's a sneak pick of a mirror effect (I still have a lot of limitations since the effect can't grab from a blended png) :

Cool! ![]()
CAD RC4 Build 758 (11Sep06)
- Morrir effect added (*)
- Improved notifier background support (**)
- Small bugs fixed
(*) there is no user interface to add or adjust the mirror effect (just the "skin.ini"); the mirror effect may depend on the case image itself; the mirror effect may use more CPU (reduce the zoom may help); with the zip two skins using the mirror: "Cover Mirrored" and "Case Mirrored" (this by Zaft). This is the first Mirror effect release and some procedures were not updated yet. Use it just for testing.
(**) the 2005 default CAD skin is back! ![]()

Nice improvements.. But it eats about 20% of cpu & 170mb of RAM on my machine. So I used to rollback.. Btw, thank you for continious work!
San Antonio,
That's too much indeed.
I don't have any impact over RAM or CPU usage here (see part of my task manager below). Try to disable the time and progress bar and even try to reduce the case zoom.

If you use your regular skin (without mirror) the last build should use the same amount of RAM and CPU as before.
If you don't mind to tell what are your PC specs?
I've noticed a problem with RAM and CPU usage also with the new build
I need more details:
1) how much RAM and CPU were used
2) what skin?
3) have you tried to disable time and progress bar (wich makes CAD work more)?
4) PC specs (CPU and RAM).
The mirror effect is a bit tough since it has to be drawn every 500ms. I've tested it in two PCs so far: P4 3,6 with 4GB RAM and a P4 3,0 with 512MB RAM. No problems so far.
It's normal to use more than 20MB of RAM while testing one skin after another. But this RAM Windows can take back if necessary; if you minimize CAD the system (sometimes) recovers the RAM that CAD is not actually using.
The 170MB RAM is something I could not reproduce, unless CAD is executed outside its installation folder.
New build:

- bugs fixed and start support for MP3Toys.
...and a new Skin: Horizon

Hi... I'm on 2ghz Athlon with 1GB DDR.. Your skins with mirror effects are works fine. Just as you said. But my skin - you know & you have it, 'vynil cover' - is very buggy, and it doesn't matter applied mirror effect or not.. Is it because of big case file|size?
PS. Yes.. the same problem with another big case - old school.. Last builds have a problem with large cases!
San Antonio,
Now I understand. I'll try to see what's wrong. Thanks!
////Edited:
Finally I was able to reproduce the bug.
It was introduced in build 613 due the new notifier background feature and it starts to happen often after changing a skin. But not always. It was a position issue.
It seems to be working fine now. I could not reproduce the bug anymore.
Build 777 (just the main executable):

It could take a year but we'll kill this bug! ![]()
Carlospr, your prog works great in Vista too.
Carlospr,
now it's ok... thank you
But CAD.exe still eats about 2-3% without drops.. Is it possible to make it zero?
San Antonio,
Can you send me the "skin.ini" of your current skin?
Anyway, you can reduce the size (zoom) of the case if you're using a mirror effect, reduce the font size, select a normal font (like Tahoma or Verdana or Arial) and disable time and progress bar; this way CAD will have less work to do all the time.
How do you get the mirror effect with build 777?
You choose the skin cover or case mirrored?
How do you get the mirror effect with build 777?
Dowload the previous build (but use the last one!) since some skins were added too.
http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/cadrc4b768.zip
You can also download Horizon skin that also has the mirror effect:
http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/Horizon.zip
It's possible to apply mirror for any skin, but there isn't an intrerface yet. Check the "skin.ini".
You just keep outdoing yourself!
ver for iTunes7 ?
Did you test the current CAD build with iTunes 7?
////Edited:
And what about a small rotation? ![]()

In addition, the transition effect will be made just in the cover area (not case+cover area).
New build soon!
PS: "Pin" by Zaft (made for DeskPhoto "Centre Pin" skin)
wowow cool things happening here, keep it up ![]()
btw what is that dark/grey background you are using?
greets
CAD RC4 Build 905 (14Sep06)
- this build should use less system resources
- the transition effect (fade) will occur only in cover area now (see ReadMe inside the zip)
- added "Centre Pin" skin so you can test the new rotation feature
- Changed the treeview control for a Microsoft one (*)
(*) you may need to copy and register it (e.g. if Control Panel doesn't show up); see Readme.txt for details or wait "RC5 Preview" with a full setup
http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/cadrc4b905.zip

CAD RC4 Build 914 (15Sep06)
- Improved transition effect (fade out/in) (*)
(*) To control the transition speed go to "Control Panel>Options"
http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/cadrc4b914.zip
Now we're really close to the RC5.
