RumShot 0.5 Beta

Have you tried to use it? I just opened it, got the "expired" message, but then it ran and worked just fine.
Awesome little app andrew.
yeah but the themes dont load. The only one that loads is the one with the goldish/brown solid border.
EDIT: HELPS TO READ THE README CALLED README OR LOSE YOUR HAIR. duh. ![]()
thisisepic - start over bub. extract the contents of the Rumshot zip. That's it. Dont extract anything else. Copy the rstheme files into the 'Rumshot Themes' directory in My Documents (the app will create that for you on first run if you dont have one alread). Once youve copied the rstheme files there, restart the app.
And sorry to all for a lack of updates. I'm fiddling with a display driver and .NET 2.0 issue that's driving me bonkers.

yeah I missed the step earlier of extracting the themes into the my documents directory. Its working fine now, thanks. That Readme file still didnt get my attention ![]()
Well fellas, I dunno what to tell ya. I've tried on about a dozen machines now to get the app to screw up the Panorama theme like you've all described and on each one it works how it's supposed to.
Does anyone have the Panorama theme working properly?
Nope - not here. The panorama theme is not masking the preview;
It's easy to see, since the masking that is done when you move the window takes an good amount of time, while saving a screenshot is nearly instant; You simply seem to forget to mask the preview when saving.
A video driver issue would be very strange, since GDI+ almost entirely runs on the CPU.
Just a question: why is your alpha-masking routine that slow?
Andreas, that's all I could think to chalk it up to. I've seen odd behaviors in gdi+ between nvidia and ATI cards in the past. I'm definately not forgetting to mask the preview. I've checked the code more times than I can count. Pretty much at a loss. I think I'm just going to include the themes that others have submitted to me and post the build.
The masking is so slow because of the routine I'm using. VB.NET just isnt speedy (and lacks things like direct memory pointers) when it comes to that. Havent had time to find or develop a faster one.
What about putting the relevant code up for review?
BTW, you could do masking really quick using DirectX (or even DirectShow filters).
k, guys. i'm very new to rumshot. andrew_ gotta say you have created a marvellous app, thank you.
my problem: the only theme loading is the default, is this normal?
From the readme: "Themes are packaged in *.rstheme files. These are just renamed ZIP files. To view the contents, change the extension to .zip and use your
favorite ZIP application to decompress them.
To use the themes that come with this build, **extract the contents** of the 'Themes' directory in the zip into 'My DocumentsRumshot Themes'.
RumShot will load any themes in the 'My DocumentsRumshot Themes' directory when it is started. If you add themes, you have to restart
RumShot."
i still have no clue as to what i'm doing. where should i unzip the files for them to appear in the app?
also muchos excuses for the bump
check your "my documents" folder for following two folders:
- Rumshot Screenshots
- Rumshot Themes
Extract your themes into the themes folder leaving intact with .rstheme extension.
Put all the .rstheme files in Rumshot Themes in My Documents. I know the readme is a little confusing, sorry about that.
thanks. that appears to have done the trick. so is 0.5 BETA the latest release? i'm glad there's a windows alternative to snapshooter. thanks again.
Yeah thats the last release. My free time took a huge hit about a month ago and I'm still waiting for it to return. If you like this, try Nubs.
i can't belive i jsut found this now. i love you. damn. holy. man. pcout.
Wow, very convenient app. And works well. Thanks.
It's unfortunate that there is no Mac equivalent. If there is, I'd be more than happy to know! ![]()
Anyhow, RumShot is really a nice piece of work!
Bravo!
Apologies for the doublepost and bump, but when I save the screenshot it saves both the preview and full shot as png, and unfortunately this creates a rather large sized png (almost 2mb) for the full shot, is there a way to save the preview as png and the full shot as jpeg? I do see the jpeg quality options in the config, that is unless I somehow managed to save it wrong. o_O
Currently it saves both screenshot and preview as one format, and thats the only choice you have. I'll give some thought to the interface and allowing each to be saved as a different format.

Thanks, that would be a nice option. ![]()
