RumShot 0.5 Beta

I present to you RumShot 0.5. This is a nifty build. It hasnt been tested by anyone but me, so it's likely you'll find bugs, but let's hope not.

A few things to note...

RumShot themes are just zip files - to see how to make your own, change the extension on the theme files to .zip, extract and have fun. The xml is really very straight forward.
Alpha/White masking should be supported fully now (although it's slow in comparison) - take a look at Ozzpot's Panorama theme for an example.
To report bugs please copy the exception text or error message (if any) and paste it using http://rafb.net/paste !!
Feel free to throw out a bunch of suggestions, but please keep in mind that the interface isn't likely to change much, if at all.

Rumshot REQUIRES the .NET 2.0 Framework. Go here if you dont have it already. No, you can not use a beta version of 2.0 with this.

PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT RESOURCE USAGE. I'LL JUST END UP IGNORING YOUR POST

This beta expires (will cease to run) on June 1st, 2006.

Wow, nice app andrew_, works smoothly!

Couple of suggestions / buggy things:

it redraws incredibly often when moving the window around, might have an InvalidateRect(NULL) or something in the move-handler? [without being in the 'take a screenshot' modus]
FTP support! (wininet library)
Make the JPG quality box a slider, it's UI-friendlier
3D/DirectX support! think of screenshot previews like this: http://home.cogeco.ca/~rklauncher/.

It's supposed to redraw for every pixel moved. Hit the settings button and turn off realtime updating if that's buggin ya.

As for the other suggestions, all good ideas.

I don't ever bother w/ linking through an image, but I think what NC is saying is that you copy the link to your destination url, replacing where he has "path To PREVIEW" then also remove the "." in the last set of brackets--> [./url] (remove the "." before /url....

Rufus: like SirSmiley said, you need the 2.0 version of .net to run it. not the BETA one.

thanks for the release Andrew! one little little thing though (), could it be possible to chose the location of the directories (the theme folder, for exemple) as I don't use My Documents normally (have a separate HD for that) but it's really no big deal

also, from time to time, the settings tab shows mid-way when it's not supposed to (not completetly hidden)

Ghil - for compatibility's and sanity's sake right now I'm going to keep the requirement for My Documents. You wouldnt belive the confusion it causes new-bies (why is n e w b considered a bad word ? ) in Kapsules where I allow people to change their widget directory. Also, if you could get a screenshot of the settings panel issue I would appreciate it, also steps to reproduce if possible.

Stuff like this make your life so much easier. I love it great work, however, I seem to be missing the proper way of extracting the theme or loading them... I followed the instructions in the readme but they're just not loading.

Rumshot automatically creates a Rumshots Themes folder in your My Documents folder...I jsut copied all the themese from the install directory into that Themes folder, started Rumshot, & all themes were available...

Will do that tomorrow. Want to brush them up a bit. One's just going to be a celluloid style pack... Apparently my celluloid design is almost bang on identical to Ozzpot's.
