Fixed Updating issues again on other systems. (hope to solve more issues I've found)
Added more options when you right click on it. (Sound on/of always or not)
Added waves to be always displayed or partial.

I'm going to be releasing another version soon after I release new avescripter. Just found a "major" updating flaw and its been patched. Gain some speed out of it since less redrawing is required in the new version.

pcm latest versions seems to be great. One little thing, I know I'm being picky now..
, I love how the numbers of bars shown indications volume but would be possible to show the same image as muted when at 0 volume. At the moment it still shows one bar.
Zaft, the latest version has an option when you right click to show the waves like you asked. I just forgot to mention that.
If your talking about the bar at the bottom to represet the volume I do.. It doesn't change, it remains the same.
Unless you got another 3rd party or something special like Verbalhijacker.
Take a look at the control panel and bring up the sound mixer. Press the mute button and see what happens. Does the volume go down? If so that's something else that's bringing it down, I just put the mute option on. So on my system I have no waves to display the volume.
Infact, I can change the volume of the system while the mute is on and you see the bar increase.

Yeah.. I don't think I was very clear. The bar at the bottom works great and when I mute it shows what the last volume was and the image above change to show the speaker with no sound indicators (which is perfect).
What I was wondering was as the sound indicators (the 1,2 or 3 bars) change depending on volume with 1 bar for low, 2 indicators of medium and 3 for loud. Would it be possible to show no bars when the volume is reduced to 0? So that the speaker only is shown like when mute is enabled. At the moment when you set sound to 0 the speaker shows with a single indicator thingy.

always sound will be played if you have something else. (Like the mixer of microsoft) update the volume.
Just open the mixer and slide the volume up and down. You'll see the difference.
Just updated the desklet so that it will not show any waves if the volume is at 0.
This option is only "available" if you don't use the option show full waves.
Hey pcm thanks for the great update. One thing still bugs me although I think it might be exclusive to my configuration. I use OSX volume indicator in it's own dedicated AVEDESK process as I have it at normal priority and my primary AVEDESK is below normal.
Not sure if it's relavant but when I set avedesk to start with windows it doesn't display the volume change in real time. The indicator pops up as normal on each volume change and shows whatever the current volume is then it shows the changed volume breifly just before fading. It doesn't show increasing or decreasing the volume. Starting AVEDESK on it's own after about 30 secs from boot and everythings okay? Odd.
Make sure you download the latest latest BETA. That might fix your problem.
ALSO, Note: The latest version of avescripter allows you to set desklet priority for avescripter desklets. So you don't need to have 2 avedesks. Set the thread to high and desk to low.. or any combo you want.

Well that did the trick!! For some reason I thought that the aviscripter priority setting would not allow me to set avedesk as low priority and then aviscripter as normal. As it is now I've set osxvolume to realtime as high was a little lethargic and normal didn't seem like normal when the avedesk process is at normal. I'm thinking perhaps aviscripter's setting varies depending on the priority setting of avedesk. With avedesk at low priority realtime works fantastically.
Gonna do some more testing but so far it seems to be working better than ever.

Ya.. I think its relative to the main process, which is avedesk, since its the process that sends me some information.
Also, note, there is sometimes a few "pauses" because of new graphics being loaded, but once its cached the pauses should disappear.
pcm just thought I'd give a little update now that a couple of weeks have passed since the latest (and greatest) release. I have to say this OSX indicator is easily the best implementation of the idea in WIndows I have tried. From Konfabulator to stand alone apps nothing can touch the versatility and usefullness of avedesk/aviscripter. The simple greatest feature is the ability to detect global volume changes so no messing around with mapping hotkeys or problems with third party programs.
Also doesn't interfer with changing volume during gaming which a big plus. Great job!

I always hate having tons of little 3rd party stuff just to have one thing running.
i had installed the first version of this cool desklet, now i installed v1.07 but the thing is that the desklet does not go away... with the other version i would press volume up or down in my keyboard and the desklet appeared to show me the volume level, then it would hide. now it just stays there... help.
That sounds very strange problem. Can you make sure your actually using the latest "BETA" version.
Hi, i just dowloaded this from the link @ avedesk.philc.ca. The latest version. I also downloaded the latest avescripter.
I renamed the OSXvolume.zip to aveinst extension, double clicked and it installed. However, it doesn't work. In Avedesk control panel i see it there, but under desklet properties, in the Avescripter Tab, Error Log has this:

Also, if I go to add desklet, I click plus beside Avescripter, but I can't see OSX Volume under there, or Volume. Its not there. It is installed correctly when checking the directories.... not sure what the problem is.

yes.. you need to download the "beta" version of avescripter.
I haven't finished fixing all the bugs so I didn't make it an official release.

This is wicked. I wouldn't mind seeing some different skins for this. and more maps!
Perhaps, a red colour speakr and bar/tic when in mute mode. Gets kind of confusing when you are turning up your volume and you dont get any sound because you are in reality muted (which is indicated by no waves, but a nice red colour would make it easier i think, or even the words mute really small or both).

Sorry but I have followed the directions and have the latest avescripter and currently using ave2.0. For whatever reason I'm not seeing ANYthing? Plz any assistance would be terrific.
Do you see the desklet in the control panel at all?
Yes, I will clarify: The desklet is shown in the avedesk control panel. The Icon doesn't appear on the screen. However, if I apply a label for the icon...i can see that but still there is NO icon on the screen. I'm taking it that this controller should appear like TLB..right?

Can you show me a screen shot of the control panel?
It suppose to be hidden until you change volume, once you change it will appear.
Also, can you check the properties of the desklet and see the error log if any.
