I can't even get into my FTP anymore. I'm done for.
He could have at least emailed the people who had accounts to tell us this. I'm at a loss of my files and am now out of a host for my downloads. I understand it was free and all, but he still could have warned us.

That is your own fault for using free hosting. You really don't have the right to gripe but be happy you had it.
I'm gutted! It would have been nice to been have told about this in an email. Maby all of our files are being transferred to d7hosting.com? Lets hope so!
Oh, i didn't get time to back up everything, i think i got all the important stuff though (pcm ). Sorry to anyone who i had hosted videos, apps etc. for, they're not there anymore! (I think most of those people have since left the community anyway...)

i love the free hosting, he transfered my stuff to d7hosting like 2 months ago and did my domain.

:/ Needlemen is really dissapointing. Though I am not really mad because I received it free....I still think if he told us maybe a week before hand a lot of us would buy his hosting.

That's the hosting that I use for Aqua-Gero, WinX, NickCreevy's site, Juanchis's file storage, my PHP scripts that I've spent forever coding, and much more. I don't know what to do!

i think people should be saying thank you to Cassius rather than complaining and whining. You've got it free for such a long time now, and it's your fault not to backup your stuff. I'm yet to see anyone saying thanks to the guy, that's...pathetic

We could be thanking him, but look, we've all lost our files and sites that we've worked hard on for a long time. Aqua-Gero was actually starting to get some members and getting kind of popular. (Well, we only have 2,000 posts, but it's a new site and we hope to get more popular as we go along).
You know, I can't even tell you how many times aqua-soft went through losing files right and left, a few years ago. I know jef remembers those days.

I don't mind him pulling the free hosting, but I do have a problem with how he handled it and failed to tell us before he did it so we had a day at least to back our stuff up.
I had a problem with a free host once a while ago I had a school project on this site and it was a very large grade for the class. All of a sudden the host's host took teh guy's hard drive and wouldn't give it back because of an phishing complaint, the lesson: always backup and don't think you can get away with not backing up.

I was talking to Magnolium/Cassius recently about a completely unrelated problem with my website, and he informed me that he had terminated the account with the hosting company and that I should back up all my files. I told you guys as soon as I remembered, which apparently wasn't soon enough. Sorry

But yeah, backups backups backups. On the other hand, one never really expects a remote server to go down :slant:. I'm still extraordinarily grateful to Magnolium for this opportunity!
