it is not the first 64bit processor
I'm guessing he meant to say consumer processor... they have that by about a month
It is a 64-bit processor, and the world's first 64-bit desktop processor. It runs existing 32-bit applications natively, with no problems. It is running at up to 2 GHz, making it the fastest 64-bit processor ever. It has a 1 GHz frontside bus — greeted by huge applause. And it's built for full SMP, designed from the ground up for dual-processor systems.
I guess it has some stuff that makes it unique, I think that if you have a intel 64bit processor, you need a 64bit windows xp edition, and im not sure about the compatibility with other applications, this one will have no problems with 32bit applications. Plus I think it will be accessible not like other pc processors which are expensive and most people cannot take advantage of it, he meant desktop processor, maybe not server processor as you thought.
