LOL

that man is a real idiot sometimes

it is not the first 64bit processor

I'm guessing he meant to say consumer processor... they have that by about a month

It is a 64-bit processor, and the world's first 64-bit desktop processor. It runs existing 32-bit applications natively, with no problems. It is running at up to 2 GHz, making it the fastest 64-bit processor ever. It has a 1 GHz frontside bus — greeted by huge applause. And it's built for full SMP, designed from the ground up for dual-processor systems.

I guess it has some stuff that makes it unique, I think that if you have a intel 64bit processor, you need a 64bit windows xp edition, and im not sure about the compatibility with other applications, this one will have no problems with 32bit applications. Plus I think it will be accessible not like other pc processors which are expensive and most people cannot take advantage of it, he meant desktop processor, maybe not server processor as you thought.

If they can make a comp like this, I'm sure they can manage quiet fans LOL.

I personally think that looks ugly

#34942

looks a bit 70s to me

#34944

I think it looks ugly, or like a design of an apple fan... I hope they dont release that cause it looks very ugly.

#34945

I cant even figure out the perspective in the pic..

#34947

urgh, the g5 is ugly.

#34948

Before everyone goes slamming it, remember a couple things:

1. The pic ture is poor quality, a shot of a giant screen taken by a less than perfect digitalcam. I'm sure Apple's official photos are much better.

2. It is taken while the comp is at a very weird angle, skewing the perspective.

3. The right side may or may not be clear, im not sure. They may have been showing a cutaway view for technical purposes.

the side pic doesnt look that bad, but the current design is just perfect, thats my dream desktop, if I got the money that would be my first choice to buy a desktop.

i have always had confusions with thtat because I think in the axis anyways, "mirrored" might be a better description

It has ended:

#  Thank You Very Much. The End.

# Talking about their strategy to innovate. Talking about PowerBooks 12" and 17". Safari. iLife. Keynote. Final Cut Pro 4.0. iPod. iTunes 4. iTunes Music Store. Panther. iSight. Xcode. PowerMac G5. And it's only the first 6 months of the year.

# Jobs thanking people... for various work on the products...

# Video is showing now... still showing

# The future: Today announcing to be at 3GHz in 12 months!.

#34961

Interesting...no new PB's, not even a 15'er. Hmm.

-godpunk

#34962

..and no new iBook and iMac. It was time for a new look.

#34963

K, the stores back up, and WOW, the systems look amazing. And $2000 is pretty cheap as well. Its pretty loaded for that price. Maybe Ill pick myself up one B)

Why did they put in PCI-X though? PCI-X cards aren't going to be coming out for a year or more. You'll upgrade by then anyway.

SATA drives :rule: Thats another groundbreaker as well.
