Panther isnt coming out until September. The new hardware may come out tomorrow, or it may all be stooped hype.
I dont know when the keynote is though.
the keynote is supposed to be a 10am pacific time... at least here in puerto rico it will be a 1pm due to the time difference... there will no be a live webcast, although it will be available trough appple's website later on...
in my case i will be watching the keynote from the satellite feed via C-Band or KU Band with a bunch of friends and other mac enthusiast in a big screen TV :naughty: ... hehe envy me. :rule:
damn wish i had satellite... o well i guees i can wait a few hours more

Because of high traffic, some people can't access the page. So here's the basic outline:
[ 10:02 ] Steve has just walked onstage. "We have so much great stuff today that we may have to take a stretch break in the middle." There are over 300,000 registered Apple developers now, triple the amount from before the introduction of Mac OS X. Here come the inevitable, mind-numbing "updates," where Steve tells us a bunch of stuff we've known forever, just to torture us some more.
[ 10:04 ] The "updates" include: Information about 802.11g being finalized and updated in the new Airport Extreme base stations. Now, an update on retail stores. There are now 58 stores, and 17 million people have visited thus far. Chicago (this Friday), San Francisco, and Tokyo are coming soon. The Chicago store's exterior is amazing -- it appears to be all grey brick with a huge window serving as the Apple logo on the front. In a few days, Chicago is easily going to have the best store location. Tokyo's looks pretty impressive, too. (He's showed architectural renderings of San Francisco and Tokyo.)
[ 10:07 ] Quick review of the new iPod revision that was launched on April 28. "Later on today, we will ship our one millionth iPod," Steve announces to applause. Now moving on to iTunes 4. In the first eight weeks, over five million songs were sold on the iTunes Music Store.

[ 10:10 ] A review now of Safari. Today, Safari is being declared version 1.0. It will be available at apple.com in "a few hours." Safari functionality can be embedded in other applications through the use of the Safari SDK, being released today.
[ 10:11 ] And that's it for the updates. Now on to Mac OS X. There are currently seven million active users. Six thousand native OS X applications. "We've got a kick-ass OS," Steve says to applause. "But today . . . Jaguar is over." Version 10.3 is Panther. Cool, heavy-metal looking "X" logo on the CD. No, it's not panther fur.
[ 10:13 ] X11 is bundled with Panther. It's synced with FreeBSD 5.0. Improved UFS as well. Improvements in Windows interoperability (SMB printing, SMB home directory, new IPSec-based VPN, better Active Directory integration).
"Now, some of the cool stuff." Panther has a brand-new finder. Instead of being "computer-centric," like the old Finder, it's going to be "user-centric." (Matthew Rothenberg's eWeek coverage was right.) Now, all storage, iDisk, home directory, etc. will be in the left column of a window, like the playlist column of iTunes. Steve hasn't referenced it yet, but it's obvious that labels are back, too. File searching is "really fast" now, too. There's also a new "action button" that's context-sensitive and will show actions that you can perform on the selected item (e.g., Get Info). New open/save panels.
[ 10:16 ] Steve's now demonstrating the new Finder. Icons in the new left column shrink dynamically as the Finder window itself is resized. Curious side note: In the iChat icon in the dock, there's an image of a video camera superimposed over the blue chat bubble (replacing the exclamation mark). Now he's demonstrating "fast search." It's basically identical to the search box in iTunes -- it dynamically updates search results with each character you type. The audience loves this.
[ 10:19 ] That's the new Finder. (No word on whether it's Cocoa now.) Now moving on to iDisk and .mac. In Panther, iDisk changes — files will automatically sync, in the background. Your iDisk becomes "basically a local folder that syncs." Multiple iDisks can sync with one another. When you're not on a network, and you make changes to a document offline, it'll automatically re-sync with your .mac iDisk when you're online again.
[ 10:20 ] New feature: Exposé. For those of us who end up with tons of windows all over the desktop. Steve's demonstrating how it works now. He's run an AppleScript to open up tons of windows. The demonstration does far better than any description I can give, but basically, he moves his mouse to a corner of the screen, and all the windows on the screen shrink and essentially tile. The audience is going nuts, both in the store and at WWDC itself. Everything behind the semi-thumbnailed windows is darkened. You then can pick a window to work on from these "thumbnails," and there are rollovers as you scroll over the windows. Click, and it brings that window to the foreground. You can toggle this by using a screen corner, or a second button on a two-button mouse.
[ 10:24 ] He's demonstrating another way of using Expose. You can assign a button to quickly clear away all windows on the desktop (they "fly off to the nearest corner") so you can see your desktop, in case you need to, say, grab a file to put into your e-mail as an attachment. After you do, your windows (in this case, a Mail compose window) "flies" back into place, and you can drop that attachment in. Really, really fun stuff.
[ 10:25 ] Another new feature: File Vault. It's a response to companies worried about sensitive information on notebooks that could fall into the wrong hands if stolen. One checkbox turns File Vault off or on; it encrypts every file in your home directory in the background. You don't even know it's happening.
[ 10:26 ] Mail is much improved. Everything's much faster, and Safari rendering is built in. Addresses are "objects." Mail can be viewed and managed by threads.

I hope that doesn't mean the filesystem has got lost behind layers of idiot proof 'my documents' style folders.
Thats really annoying if you want to put your files where you want them not where Steve makes you.

it is not the first 64bit processor
I'm guessing he meant to say consumer processor... they have that by about a month
New case is aluminum and more squarish...different from models in past years (more details as i get them)
EDIT: 9!!! fans in the things...but they only combine to make 35 db of noise. Not shipping til August.
