Main page ideas?

i think that the gui news should be digg styled with votes. i tried to do this with pligg but i could nt do it [im not bigg into php]... this way the actually good releases are promoted to the top while mediocre or "blah" releases won't get the front page. it also gives a more web 2.0 [eww] feel to the website.

I'll pass on the digg style homepage, not a fan of those type of clones.

i don't think of it as a clone but a more social way to browse the news... maybe a rating or riffs styled page.. the newsposters writing what they think is "good" may not be what the community thinks should be on the front page.

I personally had "digg" style pages-- I'm really too lazy "interact" with the news, and I don't want that sort of responsibility or pressure.

However, one thing I've always liked to have seen implemented is a "rating" for the release-- how does the community (or those that voted) like it? I know that each thread already has a 'rating' button, but quite frankly this function is kind of hidden and not very prominent.

just skimmed through the thread so not sure if this has been suggested already but my idea is to split the news into two/three sections, for windows and for mac. So when you get to the front page it comes up with the mac or windows logo and you click on your preference and it takes you to the news relating to your system.
