Main page ideas?

For those that use/used the main page here at Aqua-Soft. What are some things you would like to see improved/added/removed or anything.

I plan on getting the main page updated by this weekend. So any ideas would really be appreciated.

To fix the no-news for a week problem, I'll be added a forum for people to post their stuff that they would like to get on the main page. Then we'll have staff go through it and find what's worth posting on the main page and what not.

I think the main page is too large, maybe you need to clean it a little. I like the news and the major releases on the main page, but maybe 3 or 4 features is enough.

I'd like to see more images on the front page - its so text heavy it becomes un-readable and very dull looking. Even if they are just Graphic devices to liven things up a bit.

Also have to pick you up on the 'no news for a week' thing.. its actually been nearly a month and a half!

You can remove the "Categories" link that's in bold. Also, maybe make the toolbar at the top more similar to the forum toolbar?

I support that idea, but that means news poster(s) will have to put a darn news title for once lol.

I'd like to see some kind of intro in the first page:

::: some text on what Aqua-Soft is

::: info of what has been achieved about Aqua on Windows

::: links to guides or selected forum threads that help new visitors find their way around

::: some kind of graphics to sum up what Aqua-Soft is about (a desktop of the month maybe?)

Some sort of icons next to news paragraphs, to visually identify the news subject (icon release, wallpapers, skins, software, apple news etc)

Recent forum posts is nice. I would like more entries and wider column.

I say Ken is right.... Whatever we have achieved as community should be made known to world. We have some of the best talents lurking here like Ave, Chris, Bz and Unbe (you can't help but notice his moderating skills... )

I think that the current way in which new posts" are handled is more than adequate

-on the right, there is a list of the most recent forum posts

-you can also go to the forum and click on the [new posts] button and see what's up

I also agree that some sort "state of aqua-customization" is needed

-I think it'd be more appropirate as a specific "about" section with relevant button

Which leaves what I think belongs on the front the page..

-I think the front page serves the purpose of being the first thing that you seen when you click your aquasoft bookmark in your browser-- it should therefore:

1) be eye catching with a balance of eye-candy

2) informative and timely-- highlighting issues, trends currently sweeping the community

3) informative-- not everyone always has the time to read all the forums and sometimes they miss things because of the forum name or it just get lost, whatever. important issues could be highlighted with a link to the relevant discussion

4) updated- I think at least once a week, and more often if relevant or needed. no need to udpate everyday as that is too much work and sometimes there just isn't news.

I don't want to visit the main page only to see the same repeated info that I already know. link to it yes - but don't waste the front page as an advert for Aqua Soft.

Anyway, a while ago somebody started some threads on having a resources/downloads section.... I think we should continue with that idea.

If the wiki is made more prominent it can be sustained. I think previously it has suffered from under-exposure.

I think there should be a list of all released items for the day/week/ and no description.

I know one of the harder things to do when I was newsposter was making a cool, creative and catchy description for all 20 items. It got to be repetitive, annoying and a turn off when you read it.

What about changing the ads color to something that fits aqua-soft theme?
