Y'z Dock 0.4 Is Available!!

As with new Mobydock, it's the slowest version ever...

it runs so slowly on my machine that it's completely unusable...

Also, my icons DO NOT jump on app start (not a SINGLE APP!!!)

And it never shows the running app indicator... NEVER...

So for me, it basically acts like a VEEEEERY slow 0.3!

I'm having the following problem with this dock....

I always get triangle-indicators under My Computer, Control Panel and Recycle Bin in the dock regardless of whether they are open or not....It's caused bcoz I've linked them to explorer.exe and added the necessary arguments (e.g. for My Computer I add ,,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} to explorer.exe)

And since explorer.exe is running it shows the indicators...(I've tried killing explorer.exe and the indicators promptly disappear)

Is there any other way of linking to these folders so that I don't get the indicators???

I agree with Sid, but other than that - THIS IS THE BEST DOCK IN MY OPINION!!

I have the same problem as Siddharth with any icons linked to explorer (My Computer, Control Panel, Recycle Bin) displaying triangles even if they aren't active.

One other small problem...I have shortcuts to my floppy and Zip drives on the dock. With version 0.4 I get errors on startup of the dock if the drives are empty asking me to insert a disk into the drive. I have to hit cancel for both drives then the dock starts up and runs OK. This didn't happen in previous versions. I assume it's got something to do with 0.4 checking for active apps to display a triangle or something along those lines that previous versions didn't do.

As far as speed, I haven't noticed any slowdown...the dock seems just as fast as 0.31 and I haven't noticed any other problems yet. Looks pretty solid except for the things I noted above.

well none of the problems seem to really hinder performance so that is good but I dunno how well he is going to be able to recreate some of those problems cuz they seem to be on some comps and not on others. I haven't* tested out that indicator thing with my computer and control panel and the other stuff cuz I only have IE in my dock, but this problem sounds like it would easily be fixed.

::edit:: haven't^::

Mr. Yamaguchi, congratulations! Great work on the latest version. NO errors whatsoever! B)

(for the other users, please read the readme file: it says that only the Applications have the indicator and bouncing effect)

I'm not using my shortcuts anymore. I just dragged the links from the Windows Start Bar to the dock. I hope this works for you too.

Waouuu,

It works fine on my Home XP 1,7 GH computer. (Well, well, i've got 1,24 GB SDRAM)

This dock is quite simple to use and i love this...

Thanks.

y'all didnt do that in the first place??

#3505

The problem I'm having with it is that it crashes when i try to add a shortcut

#3507

maybe you have too many icons in your icon folder and you should split them up into different folders?

YzDock's newest beta version is great but I encountered some errors.

A memory access violation happened while I was adding the MSN Messenger to the dock via drag and drop while it was actively running in the system tray. Another one is at times when I am editing an item in the dock via it's setting function, I noticed that at times the thumbnails are not visible although their names are there and clicking on it works fine. At times, the icons are incomplete and it takes some time to load the settings windows when you have lots of icons there.

Also, I noticed that magnification became slow unlike the previous version.

That's all I encountered. Other than those I mentioned above, I can say that YzDock is the best emulated Mac-dock out in the net!

Thanks Mr. Y!

Keep 'em coming! :D

Nope, only have about 12 total, tried a fresh install (didn't use the existing setup), the first time I tried to add a shortcut it crashed again, and I have left it alone since.

*edit*

Oops, just re-read the comment, I do have a lot of PNGs, but they are within various subfolders.

Is there a max # allowed in each subfolder?

Also, has anyone else noticed a possible issue with minimizing windows that are completely maximized?

This is that in the area of the screen reserved for the dock (the max size it can be, regardless of the actual size that you have it set) it will have a ghost image of the bottom part of the last maximized window to be minimized. This happened in the .31 version, but it also happens in Object Dock.

maybe you should try taking out all the folders but like one temporarily and see if it works that way but I dunno if there is a folder limit. Also try closing all of your programs then drag a shortcut in the dock because the programs running could cause it to crash but I really dunno

Well I dragged the shortcuts into the bar but now it doesn't give an indicator at all, even if the app is open.....Is this caused because I have renamed My Computer to Finder and Recycle Bin to Trash or bcoz of something else??

The indicators are supose to only work for apps not folders and stuff like that and there is probably some programs that the indicators don't come on. If you don't get any indicators at all for any apps you have open in the dock then there might be a problem

#3617

Ok, two problems. (now that I finally have the dock) The bouncing icons do not work for me. That is, my icons dont bounce when I click on them. My second problem is also what everyone else is having. The finder button has no running triangle under it. Thats it. If anyone has any suggestions on the "no bouncing icons" please help.
