Y'z Dock 0.4 Is Available!!

I don't know why some of you people are havin probs downloading it cuz I downloaded it after someone said the link was dead and it worked. The servers could possibly be coming on and off so I would advise you the ones having problems downloading it to download it with a FlashGet ( www.amazesoft.com ) or maybe it isn't working cuz your not downloading it right like maybe if you do save target it as it will or will not work i dunno, but I did download it with flashget without a hitch

lol I would set up a mirror but I am afraid that my websites account would be shut down becuase of exceeding the bandwidth limit which I don't know what it is at www.host.sk but I know I'd find out if I started hosting the Y'z Dock.

Is this the buggiest Y's dock ever ?

Hmmmm ???? !!!!!

I just got into 2 bugs that has me worried to the stability of Y's dock v .40.

If you create a folder with your icons PNGs and you begin to insert Icons on the Y's dock the icon folder Y's dock wants to go as a default is the Bright Icon Folder. You have a drop-down list to tell it to go to your Icon Folder. When you do this Y's dock may crash and freeze your computer. It will also not save the latest Y-dock icons you introduced. Y's dock will save your work after you successfully turn it off. This has already happened twice to me, very frustrating.

If you do turn it off (quit Y's dock) and for some reason it runs into problems it will leave an empty image of the dock on your screen. In this case I suggest you re-boot your computer because a screen refresh won't solve the problem.

hi, i am mostly a board lurker and read than post

anyways, i have been a fan of Y'zDock since it was first released, and i have experenced a kind of wierd issue, or at least i think. when i first start the dock up, there are no icons as usual (since it was freshly unzipped) so i dropped down to the desktop and tryed dragging an icon, photoshop for example, and well , the dock has an issue expanding, it wont. Unless i am holding the icon over the dock, and the mouse is over the small devider, thats the only change i have to drop it down, and still when i try to drop the first icon on, the dock has a strange motion where it expands, shrinks, expands, shrinks, expands, so you need to drop it at the right time. Then another issue i have experenced would be smoothly navigating over the icons. With .34 i could just slide over the icons with no issues. in .4, when ever my pointer hits a non-icon location, like surrounding the icon or even a transparent opening in the icon.

personally i hope this issue is resolved, but for now i think i am staying with the last beta,

After trying to install my icons the 3rd time I got Y's dock working.

I have a question for those that installed the latest version.

1. Are some (not all) applications slower to launch than others ?

2. Do you get icon bouncing up-down on every application icon ? how about a folder ? or a web-site ? DO they all bounce ?

3. Do you see the triangle on every application that is running ? what about a web-site? or an open folder ?

Not every application bounces for me and not everything that is opened or running has a triangle.

I have not noticed apps slower than others. 2) I seem to only get the bouncing with apps not folders or webs. The bouncing happens but late sometimes. 3) I think I read the triangle is only on apps now.

After a few more beta's it's going to be very hard to pick which one. Or use both.. :rolleyes:

First, I think all the docks (Mobydock,Y's-dock & Objectdock) have something to offer. There are times that one can choose one dock over the other simply based on OS type or speed of your CPU. The differences between docks are getting narrower and presently may boil down to slight compatibility differences or certain cosmetic features (triangles/motion etc.).

All the docks may have some bugs, some important some not so important. They all will get better. Today's best dock application may not necessarily be tomorrows best. Maybe there won't be a clear winner if they all keep improving. The real winner will be the user in finding a dock that can perform with a high degree of stability and worthwhile features.

In the meantime we should all encourage further development and be enthusiastic to try them out and to point problem areas. Maybe these problems that we see once in awhile are easily overcomed in proper usage.

I see faster performance with Y's than Objectdock, or Mobydock but perhaps Mobydock may have less bugs than the others and maybe Objectdock implements certain features better. It no longer is an easy decision to pick a winner as all the docks get better and newer bugs are found. They are all good docks with a brighter future ahead.

In the meantime for Y's dock, I'm only getting animation and triangles for Netscape and IE browser but not the other apps. I may have to re-install my icons and try again .

everthing on version 4 is working fine for me...I just extracted the downloaded files into a new folder (C:/yzdock4). I have kept a folder of all the icons I have downloaded, so I just copied this into the icons folder of the new version. I then copied the settings file from my version 3 (which has all the applications etc that I was using on version 3) into the new C:/yzdock4 folder....and presto, I launch yzdock4 and everything works...my original complement of applications is still there...they bounce, triangles appear, adding new applications and icons is easy...
