My Cd Cover

I was wondering if you guys, my friends, could give me some feedback on the cover I designed for the CD I am recording. Any and all suggestions/criticism is welcome, but if you are going to say it sucks for some reason, PLEASE indicate a way I can make it better. Thanks! (Y)

BTW, in case you are wondering why there is so little color, it is because I am producing everything myself (music, CD's, CD cases/labels/covers, so I am trying not to go nuts with color ink- gotta keep it cheap! )

Yep love it! i personally would like to see an example with the red stripe off centered.. this is to right (well behaved) in a way.

It looks good, its got the whole "rebel" vibe going. On the back, you need to put a picture of yourself in a defiant pose. That would be super. (Y)

You should make the red stripe a littler bigger or bolder, because it doesn't stand out enough.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, once the album is finished, I plan on sharing it w/ you guys. I was going to lock myself in and record tonight, but Cubase crapped out on me!!! :rant: Oh well.

Yeah, even if you use a "typewriterish" font, you need to make it look a bit dirtier. It's a little clean and precise. Art is rarely clean and precise.

Thanks for asking Frenzy...guess I shoulda specified earlier

I am a solo artist. I have been in a few bands, but grew tired of the quibbling and arguing that come with bands, so I set out on my own. My musical style would probably best fall under the Rock genre, but I have many many influences across all genres, and all of them are bound to affect my sound, so the final record may be somewhat ecclectic; hard to say at this point. I can play guitar, bass guitar, and some piano. For this record though, I plan to only use my acoustic guitar, and maybe include some piano. No drums. As far as money goes, I haven't spent much yet. My dad found a copy of Cubase at the thrift store for me (talk about a steal!), and besides that, just the cost of blank CD's, jewel cases, CD labels, and paper for the cover- all of which I should be able to earn back by selling copies of the CD. So as far as $ goes, things are working out. I guess if you count the cost of the iBook I use to record, then I've spent $1700+ Hope that answers all your questions!

EDIT: About the recording methods- I plug my guitar into my amp, then run a line out of my amp to the iMic, a 1/8" mic jack that plugs into the USB port in my iBook. Since the iMic utilizes USB and is external, it eliminates the hum you get when using an internal sound card. From the iMic, the signal goes into Cubase, where it is processed and recorded. When it is recorded, I mix down the vocal and music tracks and voila, a song!

that's cool man, it's like a small recording studio...

I use to write my songs too (I play the guitar) and once I recorded a demo tape (really bad sound quality) with one of my friends, he was the singer and I played the acoustic guitar but that's all. We were like a miniband for personal joy, no concerts, no proffesional recordings but it was real fun.
