Bumping Threads is neither a hobby nor appreciated

Don't bump old threads but start a new one?! Somebody starts a new thread and all they get is "SEARCH the FORUMS". 0_-
In most cases like this people haven't searched. I'm no genius (clearly evident) but, if I can find something in a matter of minutes then it isn't that hard.

It's a complaints thread, that will always happen, people will bring out all they're personal gripes, regardless of whether they are related to the original topic or not.... What are we trying to achieve here in the first place....?
P.S. +1 for the "Thanks" button, let's at least try and get something out of this....
There's a vB mod that closes threads after 2 months of inactivity, or what ever time limit you set it to.

would anyone even care about this if the word bump never existed. no it would just be some one adding to a topic that lost steam. if some one started a new thread about one that existed cuase they didnt' want to "bump and old thread" you would just start a thread about how people need to search more.

People get yelled if they start a new thread about something that's been solved.People SHOULD get yelled at for bumping an old thread just to say "thanks" or "i agree".
People SHOULD search the forums cause 99% of all the problems n3wbs encounter have been solved ages ago. They are just lazy to do it.

Since I am actually afraid that I will be banned for posting only that, I will add something. That, and the board won't let me post just that.
@ Paralax - The problem with that is that there are plenty of threads on this board that can be contributed to, even more than a few months after the thread was started. By closing them you are encouraging a new thread to be created while only preventing the annoying bump. I can understand the bump that constructively adds to the old thread, so I don't think closing threads automatically will solve the bigger problem.
And honestly, I don't think the Thank You button really helped that much. People will still post the "Thank you" out of respect and to keep the thread alive to help out the releaser.
#1: Searching is not that easy
Whenever I've used forum search, I ended up with either tons of results or nothing. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but it's much easier to browse through threads than searching.
#2: Tons of new threads
The way the forum is organized, threads become "old" in no time. If I start a release or a question thread, it will be out of focus in hours, a few days at most.
#3: Why there's bumping
For good reason (to revive an unanswered question, to add something to an old thread, etc), or for no reason (to say thanks to a year-old release, to revive my own pointless thread, etc).
I think the first should be forgiven and even encouraged. It's better to keep the forum tidy with long lasting discussion, rather than having 10 different threads about the same subject.
The second should be prevented, but not totally banned. Closing old threads is like admitting they are useless. Change the New Reply button to orange if a thread is two months old, red if it's a year old (or anything). Make the user think twice before posting.
