I was just thinking, maybe there could be a live chat for members, even guests. I've seen it elsewhere using a Java applet or something similar and may be quite useful for people who just want to ask a quick question without feeling the need to post, or for general discussion. Anyone here use mIRC or any IRC client, there could be an A-S channel...
Anyway just throwing some ideas out there, sorry if this has been discussed already.

We used to have a shout box... that was phased out though... partly down to the fact that so many people mistook it for a search box.....!!

Well of course they were going mistake it for a search box, it looked exactly like one. What he's talking about is a whole seperate page that has a chat script in it.
Why the hell would a search box, have a chat log right over it? when there is a SEARCH BOX in the top right that says "search the forums" when the chatbox said.... THIS IS NOT A SEARCH BOX, hell I even added a checkbox for you to enable it, people enabled it and still tried to search. Face it, the people that visit this site are retarded
So....back to my question, i guess it's been tried and failed. Nevermind....
Might add another shoutbox if I can get alot of requests for it.

well, truthfully...i don't remember a shoutbox being on the site.
i dunno...the shoutbox was kinda cool. and honestly, peeps searching in the shoutbox didn't really bother me. i thought i was kinda funny to see who the dumbasses were. hey...!!!
maybe there could be some code on the site when if someone seraches in the shoutbox, their title gets changed to 'knucklehead' or something and can't be changed back until a mod unlocks it!! that would rock!!
you know my vote timma, bring back the shout box!!!
Oh, and on a similar note.. the thanks system for the threads quietly passed away to.... any sign of that returning?

I'm afraid the shoutbox came and went already, all of 10 minutes ago. I'm not sure what Timan's plans are for it...
