I know you your feeling this has happend to me many times before (damn you windows!!)

I can only suggest reinstalling xp.

I have a second hard drive in my pc with windows on, so when anything goes wrong i usualy just fix it from the second HD.

or u could just partition you HD!!

#350402

yeah,windows is batty.

i dont have the luxury of a second hdd as mines a laptop. oh well. ill just have to reinstall over top. bollocks.

#350403

Don't reinstall XP, you'll wipe out all your data...

Use the power button on your computer to shut it down (hold it down). Turn it on again and everything should be working fine. If it's not working, do it one more time.

That's what I did last time I had that problem, in v2. I would wait to reformat your HD until you hear from flyakite or a knowledgeable member, even if that doesn't work.

#350408

yeah i have tried to reboot many many many tuimes. no cookies though.

i shouldnt have to fully reformat though should i? just install over top yeah? i dont erally want to lose all my stuff

#350409

i hate it when stuff like this happens, you get the worse feeling in your stomach, get all panicy and sweaty and just don't know what to do. i am not going to install flyakite osx3, no offence to chris he has spent loads of time on it and loads of people love it, but i really don't want to risk loosing all my alevel work, i think i will just stick with V2 for now, thanks very much :)

#350483

hey there,

i have the same problem as the others. i installed the 3.0 after deinstalling 2.0. when i restarted my notebook it just comes up with the wallpaper and thats it. nothing esle works. not even the power button! BIZZARE!!

anyway, i have tried to use recovery console to fix it but im not actually sure what itll do!

after i type in the "batch restoreflyakiteosx.txt" what does that do? and will it fix the prob?

cheers.

I shouldn't have to hold everyone's hand during the installation of this. I specifically included a file called "README FIRST!" in the zip so you would read it. If you didn't read it, that's not my damn fault. I just spent the last 3 months working on this, only for all of you to be lazy and not even take a minute to read anything. Thanks.

I also name things as easily as possible. RestoreFlyakiteOSX.txt. My guess is it probably restores the system file from FlyakiteOSX.... and its probably going to fix the problem if it says "IF you can't boot into windows, do this etc etc."

This isn't rocket science people!

And the admin password is needed because that is the account that the Recovery Console boots into. If you didn't set one, try just hitten enter "meaning no password". If it doesn't work, then that's not the password, and its not my fault if you forgot it.

@bigd78

Did you uninstall FlyakiteOSX v2.0, RESTART, then install v3.0? If you didn't restart, that could be the problem. If the installer asks you to restart, its not just for fun, so we can waste time. Its because it needs to.

As for why this is happening, I don't know. It could be a million things, that's computers for you. It could be the users fault, it could be the software. I have no idea. I have no specifics about anything here. It's like saying, my car stopped working! What is wrong?!

@everyone

If worst comes to worst, and you have access to an XP disc, you can do a repair install of Windows. Now before you all ask me a crapload of questions, NO, this will not get rid of your documents and crap. It installs Windows on top of itself, leaving your documents and other important files intact. For more information about repair installs, Google it (you obviously have net access). I've done enough for all of you, and I don't have time for this. I'm a one man team.

You're getting pretty worked up.

I'm sorry, but you blatantly have some buggy software. I just installed it on a fresh new laptop! I wouldn't have expected this to happen.

-Yes, I read the Read-Me

-No, I didn't install the boot screen and logon screen (for fear of Windows corrupting)

Oh well, looks like it did anyway.. You should really look into this. v3 is not ready.

Here's an idea, until you know what you are talking about, shut the hell up.

When software fails on 1 machine out of 1000, I'd say that is pretty good, especially considering my software is moddifying a good 250 system files. How often do normal programs work for every user? Even Microsoft Office has problems, and its not nearly as complex in terms of file mods as this is.

It's the world of software. It's code. It's created by man. There are inifinite amount of computer configurations out there. I do my best to think about what will happen and what the installer should do if X scenario exists, but it is impossible to make software compatible with every computer on earth. It went through about 40 testers, none had problems. Don't like it, don't use it. I do this free of charge, BY MYSELF, including the site, and support. What have you done for me or this community?

If I am pissed about people not reading the readme, then obviously it applies only to those that did not read it. If you did, good for you, it doesn't apply to you.

Where are you getting your stats, flyakite?

#350520

hey. im sorry if i upset you. i did read the read me. i should have restarted.

but anyway, do you have any ideas that could help me? id appreciate it. i have installed another version of windows on my hd and are using that now. can i alter the original in any way to resolve this?

thanks.

#350521

yeah, flyakite...did you do a gallop poll or something? why don't you gallop on THIS pole!

#350525

(I cut out my flaming)

The guy that was able to boot, but didn't see anything. You can try to have the taskmanager come up (with ctrl+alt+del) and then choose run, if you are on a default-installation. You should be able to do this: Type: C:WindowsExplorer.exe and hit enter. This should enable you to use the standard explorer again. After this go back to a restore-point before flyakite.

And guys, its pretty unhelpful if you write: After flyakite my computer won't boot. Uhm, I would say plug the power cable back in.

#350529

What the **** is with you people?

You should really learn some manners. Now go and help yourself and stop whining. He's doing this for free and it's YOUR decision to use FOSX3 after you accepted EULA. FOSX3 works great for me, doesn't work for you, well boo hoo!

I've been here long enough to see this pattern repeat. Someone works their ass off, releases a great app. Like with everything else 1% of users have problems (due to their own ignorance) and then they whine till the developer gets sick of everything and decides it's just not worth it. I'm not gonna let this happen.

If you have a problem with this decision, do PM me.
