Flyakite Help, My Computer Won't Boot

I installed flyakite and it won't boot into windows, and it won't even boot into safe mode. Please help me!

Not even in safe mode? Well, do you have a restore disk or the WindowsXP Operating System disk? If you have the Windows disk then you can reformat your harddrive and reinstall Windows. But here's the downside man, all your data will be erased and you will start over with a fresh copy of Windows.

um i think this guy wants a quick fix ....which i dont think hell get without giving more info....

#350175

Did you read the readme? There were instructions on how to fix it without booting into safe mode...

Redownload the pack onto the other computer that you apparently have, and read the instructions in the readme. DON'T INSTALL IT on this other computer.

That should help...

Uh, I have the same problem. I didn't read the read-me either. The thing is, I don't have a boot-disc. I found one for a gate-way PC but it won't work on my Dell Desktop. I'm pretty much screwed.

#350185

Well genius, that's what READMEs are for.

Next time, if someone puts enough time into writing one, read it. ;)

#350196

Yeah. I feel horrible for not taking the time to read it, for Chris aand me.

#350200

Well, I found a disc. Unfortunally, I forgot the administrator password, and have to reformat the hard-drive.

#350202

the BIGGER question is... why hasen't anyone told them what to do yet! you guys ARE aware some people cannot access they're computer if they only have 1 computer lol... I'll post some instructions straight from the readme... It DOES say README FIRST! lol.

IMPORTANT: If anything should go wrong that prevents you from getting into Windows after restart, you can use your XP disc to boot into Recovery Console, and then use the command "BATCH RestoreFlyakiteOSX.txt" without the quotes

#350204

@Jjcd7--There's a way to reset the administrator password, isn't there? What do you need the admin password for anyway?

What do you need the admin password for anyway?

my thoughts exactly...

#350235

There's a way to reset it, but not from the limited options that I have. I can't repair it without giving the password. I ended up reformatting the harddrive, but with a GateWay CD. I might not have the internet setup CD, and I can't change resolution. It's screwed up, but i'll try to figure the rest out by myself.

#350246

my thoughts exactly...

yer who needs it ..... its never done anything for anyone else.....Death to the Admin passwords! Who's with me?.....

#350248

Have you used F1 key?

For me there are the F1 and F10 key on booting. Does your pc have it?

#350260

That's not the problem, in the case we had the same error.

#350263

Ah, I'm assuming you're then talking about the BIOS admin password. Seeing as you've already reformatted, there's little point in me telling you, but you can reset that password by resetting a jumper switch on your motherboard.

That involves opening up the computer though, hehe. ;)

#350265

I mean use the Restore option on logo startup by pressing F10. (BIOS)

#350266

so what is causing his PC to not be able to boot into Windows or Safe boot?

#350288

hey there,

i have the same problem as the others. i installed the 3.0 after deinstalling 2.0. when i restarted my notebook it just comes up with the wallpaper and thats it. nothing esle works. not even the power button! BIZZARE!!

anyway, i have tried to use recovery console to fix it but im not actually sure what itll do!

after i type in the "batch restoreflyakiteosx.txt" what does that do? and will it fix the prob?

cheers.

I installed flyakite and it won't boot into windows, and it won't even boot into safe mode. Please help me!

You could try reinstalling Xp without formating the C drive. But then you would also need to install servise pack 2!!

#350393

just do a straight install over the top of the old one? surely theres n easier way of getting rid of the problem?

#350394

well not if the pc won't even boot up in safe mode.

#350395

it does get to safe mode. but once you are there no icons appear, not even the start bar. damn it!!
