Malignity, if pkg-config quits with an error like what you have, you need to install the library/program's devel package. That's how I always fix it. libgtop2 devel package This should fix your problem.

That seemed to have done the trick. My only problem now is figuring out how to start it up. I already downloaded the sensor I wanted, installed it (or at least I think I did -- ran the installer from the desktop) and all I need now is to learn how to fire it up.
