bleh, i can't really view many of the images. a lot of them only opens up a thumbnail which isn't linked to a larger image. without preview a desktop thread is so crippled. =(

That is because we have temporarily banned images hosted outside of AS because of a Windows volunerability that can cause a virus infection.

It's pointess to disable preview images whilst still allowing signatures, avatars and image attachments. In fact alloing users to link to or upload any image carries just as strong a risk of infection. Plus, if people haven't taken precautions, if they don't pick it up here, they'll pick it up somewhere else in a couple of hours. It's everywhere.

Well done for at least trying to protect people though. It's more than other sites have done. There's at least one anti-virus provider whose support forums have already been compromised becuase of this.
