If you're talking about xcalibertp's desktop, that's a Mac and the program is Adium.
But you can do similar things with Miranda and the clist plug-in. There's plenty on that subject in this forum, so look for threads about Miranda.
There's also Desktop Messenger for Yahoo widgets (Konfabulator) which does the same thing and has a few skins too.
