[rel] D-Weather Widget

Well, legal means that your own one.. Example, we wouldn't be allow to go use Konfabulator xml feed from accuweather.

Just incase you aren't being sarcastic :P

#334044

Can I set transparence background to D-Weather? Just like the konfabulator one?

#334319

Thread http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=29947 talks about this.

In short, You can partially do it and I got an example at that thread. But I'm add more scripting APIs to do it better and cleaner.

Is including of acuweather planed? (just look at konfabulator version ) because my small city is not suported by weather chanell , by acu. it is

I've tried with Accuweather and they are MIA for me as well. We've gotten an essential ok from myforecast.com. There are a few things that need to be ironed out. Need to get my butt in gear & email Ave about these things.

If you're in the US then I'd try the free feeds from the National Weather service. http://www.weather.gov/data/current_obs/seek.php

How can I change the updated frequency? Sorry, a lot of question. I like this very much, must use to replace konfabulator weather, save a lot memory and resource~

#334418

The update is now at 2 and 5 mins hours for the long forcast and 31 mins for the current forcast... Those are defined in the XML file. Just open it up and go to the XML section.

Those are the minimums that you should use so that weather.com doesn't get upset.

The following are the lines I'm talking about. What you want to alter is the Interval.

;http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/%LOCALCODE%?cc=*&unit=%UNIT%&dayf=6" interval="125" usewintmp="yes" ongetdata="SetSun()"/>

;http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/%LOCALCODE%?cc=*&unit=%UNIT%" interval="31" usewintmp="yes" ongetdata="SetSun()"/>

If it display's N/A, that's weather.com fault. It sometimes just shows silly things like that. That's why I was looking for an alternative XML feed for weather. Weather.com doesn't seem to be always "Correct" which can drive me nuts.

If you go to your temp directory, you will see a avexmlcache that is stored. Those are the files that are downloaded from Weather.com. I can't control them :S.

Sorry

Hey the reason that its getting the N/A symbol is because after 2pm they do not show the HI for the current day anymore ,so maybe some kind of checking for after 2pm and saving the Hi for after 2pm would do the trick. I also live in sydney, regardless of that its the same with the other feeds as well ,i dont know why they do that its kind of stupid if you ask me buts thats the way it is. :slant:

So i think the problem with the n/a can be solved. ;)

I have been having an annoying problem with the skin so far :/

What happens is that I add the skin in the usual way, flip it and add stroud,UK flip back and it loads the weather info fine. I then click on the name to drop the long 'United Kingdom' bit and everything appears great.

However, when I shut the machine down or restart the box the weather thing reloads but doesnt grab any information at all, just sits there empty :/ (no N/A or nowt). If I right click it and select update it pulls the information down again correctly for the area I am in but makes the name with the 'United Kingdom' bit again, which is unclickable so I cant make it shortened (the bottom expand thing works though)

Any ideas what may be causing this problem? I have got the latest avescripter and D-Weather I believe installed and the other internet skins work fine (RSS get info on startup without problems)

#334539

Theres a small problem with the new communication protocol in the current version that doesn't like to get the stuff right away in some cases.. I'll have a fix next week that should fix this. Very sorry about that.

The NA problem would have be solved in the skin script it self not the engine. I'm no sure how easy that would be. I have an idea on what can be changed in the skin.

I entered my ZIP code and hit enter, nothing... I did the same for my town, nothing. I cannot get this to work, all the other AveScripts work, just not this one, I even installed the updates, for the maps or what not. Both my ZIP and town are found on weather.com, and I am in the US.

hey man...man i have tried following everyone's instructions...but they all seem to be very random and all over the place...there's no specific instructions on how to install d-weather. i installed avedesk 1.2 and i downloaded Avescripter. What do i do from this point onwards? people told me to double click on the avescripter and then on the d-weather (after changing extension from .zip to .aveinst)...it still doesn't work. i even downloaded Windows Script Control thing from windows website, still NO LUCK!...Can someone please be kind enough to give me step by step instructions?...thank you very very much.

#422317

1st You need avedesk 1.3. go to www.avedesk.org and get your latest avedesk.

2nd Get the "Beta" version of avescripter it has many new features and bug fixs. (one of which is detect if windows script is installed correctly)

3rd Download from that site the d-weather too. It should already have aveinst exentsion.

4th in the AveDesk directory, make sure you have run the "Register" bat file.

5th Now should be able to double click the aveinst file and it will install the desklet.

6th (opt) if it didn't install (since I can't remember if it does automatically) When you go to the control panel, you should see and option AveScripter with a bunch of skins, Select the weather and your done.

Hope this helps

#430143

If its not in weather.com, then someone need to make a new desklet that would work the same way and use the yahoo xml/rss feed instead.

This is your xml/rss feed for you, but you need to make a new desklet to use it, since it doesn't have the same structured information that weather.com gives.

#430298

thank you so much PCM...i will try to make my own out of this.....but please someone...help me out with this docklet port!!!!!!!!!!

#430591

It should be very easy to do.. If you need help just post/ask in a new thread. I always read avescripter section

#430622

i have to ask that.

is it possible to change the site the weather is taken from? the thing is that...there are quite some german weather stations which are not listed in weather.com but they are listed on accuweather.com

thats the weather site, apple takes the information from for dashboard weather...

could somebody modify the weather widgets for avedesk, so that they'll work with accuweather??

i dont have the knowledge to do...so....hopefully.....maybe it could be integrated in avedesk 2.0 final or something like that...

would be great!

greetz

If accuweather offers and XML page, then it would be very easy for anyone to do it. Otherwise you need to parse the HTML result.

I would love to do it, but I have no time from now till mid April, (Over Time at work).
