[release] Multi-Plugin 2.0 Beta Refresh

hello again

i've got one questions left:

but first of all: the new mP works with my iTunes 5.0.1 ! thx for that!! and I dont need some other skins ( but a osx with perfect borders would be ok even for me ;-) )

but theres still a problem left (at least with my iTunes): if I choose "hide the menu" and then press "alt+f" it shows me this menu BUT i cant switch between the different menues and so cant change my i.e. preferences. but it DOES work if I press "alt+e". then I can switch between the different menues perfectly. Am I too stupid or did I find a bug? just wanted to help you to create a bug-free mP!

btw: if I dont choose "hide the menu": could you add an option where you can change the appearance of the "menu" button. to me it seems to be ugly!! :-) :-) <- not a problem which has to be solved fast...

edit: i've forgotten to ask for a detailed plan for that "hide-the-menu-but-use-it-as-normal"-thing from tonicx, please!! for idiots like me

edited again: realized that i have to use the arrow keys. sorry, I was used to use my mouse from the last version of mP and as an extra excuse I'm drunk :-)

but Im still interested in this detailed description from tonicX or someone else...

Where can I change skins? Multi-Plugin is installed and the Skin is in the Folder "Skins". But where can I change it?

#318240

1. Use your eyes

2. Use search

3. Go to MultiPlugin tab in preferences, choose a skin in the "Appereances" tab

4. Welcome to Aqua Soft

#318241

Oh man I was blind - thank you :)

When I change it to the "Longhorn Skin" and restart iTunes, iTunes loads the default skin...

#318244

Great PlugIn, keep up the good work!!! Now we can do some real skinning!

#318455

I've updated the link.

Update:

The link has been updated with a slightly improved version. The skin format has been changed a little to allow skinning the mini mode background and maximized window properly.

#318549

Helpful update!

Mini-mode buttons added and background is skinned. Everything works perfectly except the little grey pixelborder. What is it? It's not in my background bmp and i cant figure out what the problem is. Simply another bmp? When the prob is dissolved i'll update my skin...

I've noticed it too, now. It's probably the native border of the winow (Multi-Plugin redraws the left part, so that's why it doesn't appear there as well).

Ahh, that sounds plausible. Call me stupid but is it impossible to let Multi-Plugin redraw the right part too? Like "Mini_Bg.bmp" for the right side?! Would be damn cool if it works.

of course it's possible, I just didn't notice this.

Next version will have it skinned.

I gotta hand it to you Localhost.. Great job.. I never did figure out how to skin the background even with iTunes Skin Manager. From what I've seen, iTunes has changed a few things pertaining to the resource files.. I was thinking about coming out with a version of iTunes Skin Manager and Skin Creator but I hadn't much time to play with things and I would have to basically start from scratch when it came to the resource hacking and what not.

All I can say is excellent job and you truly are the master when it comes to skinning iTunes....

I've been having this problem for a while, and i've seen other people speak on it.

I've noticed, and compared lots of times, that with multiplugin, my iTunes runs slower, like it just gained 10 pounds and forgot the gatorade at home. It's not a mistake, i've uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and the multiplugin and noticed the difference.

Also.. either iTunes closes easily, closes to have the iTunes process continue to run and hit insane memory usage numbers (and still refuse to close with the task manager) or just plain freeze and freeze everything else, even the task manager, forcing a restart.

I love the app, and I love the beauty of a skinned iTunes, but I love my iPod more. If push comes to shove, i'll hafta.. *braces self* .. live without multiplugin. If anyone has any tips or theories about my problem, i'd be happy to hear them. If it helps, i'm running Windows XP SP2 and of course, using iTunes 5.0.1.4 with Multi-Plugin 2.0 Beta Refresh.

#319168

I've just noticed a problem that has appeared with the beta refresh, I have g-force installed as a visualisation for iTunes, and when I have the osx skin enabled (with compact menu button), I can't change the vis to g-force, it's always stuck on default...

when I switch off the skinning, it works fine

#319203

is the iTunes music store not working for anybody? I noticed when I installed multi-plugin the iTunes music store doesnt work.

#319215

-DarkPhoeniX-, I've noticed it too, you can use Alt+F to change it.

btw, to those who say iTunes is slow when closing or uses 100% CPU sometimes - I think it's because of the crappy COM interface of iTunes. I want to get rid of it in one of the upcoming releases, but it might take me some time, there are hundreds of lines of code that use it.

#319228

localhost, if I had a picture of you I would build a shrine to your name...you're da' man!!!

#319236

localhost, that did the trick. thanx :)

#319245

For everyone who has problems with iTunes closing slowly or with 100% CPU usage, read this.

I've made a new version that doesn't use the COM events at all, and uses COM only when needed.

I've rewritten a lot of code so it might be unstable, but I want to know if there's any benefit from the new approach.

To install it, install the latest Multi-Plugin 2.0 Beta and then replace c:Program FiliesiTunesMPlugin.dll with the new one.

Whoa... i´m one of those... i must be back home on the weekend, then i will try it and post the results. But, in advance, thanks.

#319276

Hey there,

I just reinstalled iTunes, and when I tried to install the Multi-Plugin 2.0 Refresh, the installer gives me the error "Unable to patch iTunes". I checked the version of iTunes, and it's 5.0.14. I'm running Windows XP SP2.

I had been able to run MP before the reinstall, and I was trying to update to the refresh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, since MP has made my iTunes experience so much better.

Many thanks.

#319307

try closing any program that might use iTunes.exe. Y'z Dock for example.

#319308

It worked. Thanks a lot!
