Firefox won't minimize to RKL

For some reason, Firefox (v1.06) won't minimize to RKL (v 0.4 build 152). Other apps do fine, just seens to be Firefox.

Is there a reason for this ... something I need to do? Because of this I can't hide explorer.exe.

I lost count how many times this has been posted.

Thanks for that. Now, a link to one of the *many* discussions would have been helpful.

how about a link to the "many" threads where someone catchs an attitude?

How about a link to the "many" threads where people would rather post useless things as opposed to helping a fellow user.

Actually guys, maybe I'm just stupid too, but I haven't been able to find one of the threads either. I searched pretty hard too.

On the other hand, wattsja, it works ok for me. What happens when you actually click on the minimize button? Does it minimize to the taskbar? Or does it not minimize at all?

And what do you mean by hiding explorer.exe??

#313528

i have the same problem, latests builids of firefox (im using 1.6a1) won't minimize to rklauncher. Theyre minimizing to taskbar normally. Sorry for my english

Thank you. I also searched and couldn't find anything, though I guess some of the others just ASSumed I didn't.

Yes, when I minimize FF, it drops to the Windows taskbar and not to RKL. All my other programs (thus far) go to RKL.

In RKL (maybe the 0.4 nightlys?), there is an option to hide explorer. It removes the taskbar from the screen. Not like the "autohide" function, but more or less removes it.

And before anyone points out the fact that you can still use ALT-TAB to bring it back (with the hidden explorer), I know that, but I usually always have my hand on the mouse so I would rather be able to "point and click" to get the app back.

I really don't see a point in this discussion. It's a bug, a bug in the nightlys, we are not supposed to report bug in the nightlys, so this thread is "illegal" :)

So Firefox doesn't minimize to tray. Fact, no workaround availlable. Move on.

well, unhide your taskbar, or use another app. There is one that puts screenshots of your minimized apps on the wallpaper. Minimizer.

10 points for you my good man!

And don't forget there is a bug reports thread for this stuff as well...

#313579

oh and something constructive:

Edit: I somehow confused this thread with some other thread where the original conent of this post would have fit :)

Edit2: I'm just too tired. sorry. The content was valid....

http://www.dockex.com/index.php?pageId=docklets&dkview=18 has a good graphical taskbar replacement and works with RK Launcher nightlys.

http://www.dockex.com/index.php?pageId=doc...age=2&dkview=35 has a taskbar menu too, though not that graphic :) but the toggle docklet that comes with this is useful for hiding/unhiding the taskbar on a mouseclick (so even if RK Launcher had a context menu item, this saves one click).

Thank you for clearing up my "issue".

I would only like to point out that I didn't know it was a known bug, or even a bug at all ... so I wasn't trying to create an "illegal" thread.

Thank you! This docklet works nicely!

;)

#313631

good, so everyone is sorted out now :)

#313671

But why its only happening with Firefox?. Its weird

#317610

It works fine here! (firefox 1.0.6, RK 0.4(152))

Maybe your firefox is in exclusions list ?!

#317690

I guess this is still an issue. It would appear that the problem is not with RK Launcher but, rather with Firefox extensions. I started having this problem after installing a lot of extensions, but, I don't know which is the culprit. Maybe, someone can figure this out. Or perhaps point me where the fix is.

I guess that's not only the Firefox' problem - Thunderbird or Sunbird won't minimize to RK too.

#329124

The cause is the latest Gecko engine in all newest Mozilla aplications. End. The fault is partialy on Gecko side and partialy on Rk launcher side (Object dock don't have any problems with mozilla aps) End. We all have hope that Radu can fix that. End

Sorry for my english . End :)

#329126

The problem with firefox is that it doesn't handle the minimize button as a normal application should do...

notice that when u minimize the firefix window it still remains active in the taskbar

(button in the taskbar still pressed)

#329172

Hmm I doesn't noticed that earlier (button in the taskbar still pressed)

I have to write some posts on mozillazine ;)

#329692

Works fine here.

I guessing that most of you are using either Firefox 1.5 or Deekpark (Firefox 1.6a). That is the only time I had troubles with it.

#329809

Yeah, i can confirm: Firefox 1.5 beta 1/2 and RC1 doesn't minimize in RKLancher.

Firefox 1.0.7 and previous version minimizes correctly into the dock. :)

#329816

How many times..... :/ It's because 1.0.7 and previous are using older Gecko engine.

From 1.0.7 to 1.5, 1.6a1 is a lot of changes. And some of these changes prevent Firefox from minimizing. I think that this problem can resolve only somebody from mozillazine or mozilla.org. End

Btw. I don't know if this is relevant, but in MiniMize App. firefox is minimizing properly (1.5,1.6a1)
