How Often Do You Re-install An OS

Have my XP sinc 2k1 an i made after Setup and installing all programs i need a mainbackup as zipcompressed files on removebal mediums. Every 3 or 4 months i restore th OS when its slowly. The restoring goes fast, about 15 mins. and OS runs fast. One tweak since Win2k is very usefull: i divide user and programfiles from systempartition. I installed OS on partition c and mount C:\Program Files on its own partition and the same with documents and settings. This ist great, becaus most small files are in the userdirectories. I used this varation about 5 years, ive never heard about this............

I made myself a Ghost CD-ROM that has a ghost backup of my system. (If you ghost XP, I don't believe you need to re-activate upon restoration if you completed it before ghosting)

Instead of 30 mins to install, it's 5 mins to restore.

Reinstallation is a way better than Ghostin. What if before Ghostin, there is an encrypted silent virus file, and when you ghost restore, the file will activate, LOL

The reinstallation of OS is a way fun and Im enjoying reinstalling XP coz its giving me a boost to be a computer guru Master.

WinXP SP1a has been very stable for me...I have had to do 2 reinstalls (fresh) since its release 10/01...The reinstalls for needed because of my 'tinkering'.

Since coming to the world of Mac emulations, my system has been stable, and with all the tweaked system files that I now have and cherish, it would take a major incident for me to reinstall again...

I do system maintenance at least once a week...

Darn it...finally had to do a 'clean install' of my WinXP SP1 system last night...Being still on 56K (waiting list for broadband), it slowly but surely is getting back to where it was prior to this issue!

35-Critical Updates from MS...still have to D/L SP1a...and thank the 'good Lord' for Pack's up coming 'Mod of all Mods' files with 'installer.exe'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will wait for that before replacing any system files manually again...

I am missing one piece of software....ohhhh how I desperately seek to fine it!!!!!

I am sure some of our collective membership would have a copy to send to me...Could you please PM me!!!

Thanks...

Once a year on the dot whether the system needs it or not actually... keeps me on my toes to back up all my data in case of catastrophic hardware failure and also keeps my systems fresh and clean. I tend to disappear from my friends for about a 2-3 weeks because when you have 4 desktop machines and two lappies and 4 different os'es to do this for it will take up a chunk of your time.

All the goddamned time. 3 times in one day a few days ago. I have a paranoia of files. I must know EVERY file on my harddrive at any given time. *cringe*
