[help] Add, Copy, Move, Drag Cursors

There was already a thread like this before but someone deleted it completely without moving it to the trash topic..

Oh well, there wasnt any solution at that thread anyway.

Hopefully someone can track down the vecious .dll that causes a faul ugly win32 cursor (or a bmp) to show up each time you Add, copy, move, drag a file with your mouse.

Like the AVIs, I hope this thing can be solved and permenantly replaced! :naughty: Thank you.

Later on, i can provide you with the needed cursor for each task (copy, move etc..).

good news! i think...

check in comctl32.dll at cursor 104... i'm not sure if that's it but it sure is a cursor with a plus next to it (i can't get that cursor to show up at all in explorer... so i can't tell if that's the right one)

if that's the right one then tell me, but if not, then tell me also and i'll keep searching

i found an easy way to look for stuff like this... search in system32 for *.dll files (and do NOT search subfolders) and then click on the columns bar and click on "More..." then scroll down, choose "Descriptions" and then click ok. now you've got a handy description of what each dll does...

Still im not really positive its the right cursor, but it may be, cause i have a problem with windows reviving the orignial file whenever i overwrite the it with a fixed one..

I tried overwriting through dos (best safest way), but it keeps coming back :dr_evil:

hope there is a way to figure a way behind it

I managed to switch the file with sone's replacer. It went through, but no - its not the correct system file

yeah i finally got it to show up... it only comes up when i drag files from inside a zip file to another folder... that's it so far, but as soon as i saw it i realized it wasn't the right one. i'll continue searching. that description thing really helps too

does any of you know where are the original cursors stored, cos even if you have custom cursors, when you comp boot, at the login creen you still have the default white cursor, maybe the add cursor could be close to this problem...just guessing & keeping searchin'...

Actually i found the cursors in shell32.dll, but i guess it wasnt that >.<

i'm guessing the cursors displayed at startup are set in the registry... so i'm checking right now to see because i know (and most everybody else does) that you can change the default vs. i'll post if i find it... and i still have no luck with the add/move/copy cursor...

Resource hacker can help you modify files. I think this is going to be a long explaining if you dont know how to use it and how to replace the .dll file through windows protection.

With that guide you have to find more of these .dlls - can you find other win32 like tiny features that can be changed to the osx as well?
