[Request] avedesk.com designer

AS many of you have noticed, one of the things missing in AveDesk “package” is the avedesk.com website that would serve as a hub for all things AveDesk.

In the past few months, we have, without much success, tried to work with several web designers who promised to design avedesk.com but always bailed out, in most cases, even before starting.

Who we need:

We need someone with good experience in web design and internet web standards to design and maintain avedesk.com, at least for first few months of its existence. You need to be motivated, dedicated, and most of all, keep the promises you make. AveDesk has been a community driven project and we would appreciate if members of this community would give something back.

What we need:

avedesk.com would consist of a front page, program description page, download and contact page. I would be involved with the site design and would provide assistance with graphics design and website organization as much as possible.

Since AveDesk is freeware, your work would not be paid but you help and accomplishments would be acknowledged. Your name would be featured in the “About” box of AveDesk, along with the link to your site featured on avedesk.com.

You will need to provide links to websites you designed, along with a portfolio and a short biography. All applications should be posted in this thread and based on the material provided and an interview that prospective candidates will take, Andreas and I will make our choice.

We truly appreciate your help in this matter and hope this will benefit both the community and AveDesk as an application that has its roots at Aqua-Soft.org.

Can i apply? I'm not that good and I'm currently have a job, but i'm really willing to do this thing and I'll be dedicated doing it. Even if without pay, I'll do it. No questions asked. I just need some help from other guys involved in this project.

#307885

I'm interested, too.

I'm quite good in xHTML and stuff.

@Florian: Do you have ICQ or something like that? We could work together.

#307947

Sure. Maybe I could design the site and you build it up in valid XHTML :D

Lets hear what Unbeliever thinks.

#307955

I'm not any good at webdesign, but if needed I can surely pay for the domain and hosting...

#307963

I'd love to design the avedesk website :)

You can see my last commercial website design at www.elixant.com and you might remember/know my Elements Icons Suite and the Graphics I've done for RKLauncher and PantherXP

I've designed much more stuff, if someone's interested I can post that too

PS: I remember I once did a design for the AeroSoft frontpage which never got realised :slant:

One thing that must not be forgotten is content management. It should be easy for someone that did not take part in the design to modify the -content- of the website. Thus structure (html), layout (css) and content should be as indipendent as possible :) People applying should know how to write (or set up) a CMS, mostly for the download section (versions, desklets ?) and the frontpage

Perhaps we could split it up into design and coding...

I know Florian and pantoni are awesome designers, and that pichfl is a great coder. Not sure where Sid or kaloyster are (probably better than me), but we could all work together!

Now there's an idea! It's all about the community people!! :)

#308079

I will join this adventure ;-)

I could do the CSS and xHTML stuff.

someone for php? Sid, nightcrawler? kaloyster?

and a graphical designer? Florian, I really want you to make a mockup, I love your calendar.

Pantoni, pls join us, I really like your icons.

@nightcrawler: thx, nice to hear that.

long live the community

I like nightcrawler's idea. Let's split up the tasks so we can work more efficiently. This would be a very interesting project. AveDesk.com for fans, BY fans.

This will be an interesting project. Can't wait to see it up soon.

I don't have much background, but I can help if there is a need for someone.

I can help with hosting, maybe a temporary place to have everything uploaded to for testing. God knows I'm not the best at php and css, but I can try to help coding or graphic-wise.

Would the site be a portal, like MamboServer or something like this site utilizing Wordpress? or will it be a custom, from scratch type site?

I don't design for work or as a job. More like a hobby for me. http://www.markms.com is something I work on just to keep myself up-to-date in website type stuff.

#308322

I can help with PHP... But im not a designer.

Coder only ))

But we can use PHP+Smarty to split logic and design...

anyway - i'm always here =)

anyone for writing a new downloadmanager or a system to manage the desklets and releases and stuff?

With Uploading from local harddisk for the developers, rating and category-management?

Or is there already something like that?

IMHO we shouldnt use Wordpress, it's a great piece of work, bt I dont think, it's right for something like a downloadarea.

I'm using TextPattern for my website and I really like it. It's highly customizable and could easily be used for the whole site, including frontpage and download area.

Moreover it has tons of plugins and a nice community if there are any problems

And, as I already said, I'd love to join the team :)

#308426

TextPattern looks really good. I vote we use that as the CMS for avedesk.com.

#308433

just my $0.02, wordpress is really good too.

I would wish to help, but i'm far too busy for this, exams coming really soon. would be able to help out after that, maybe moderation and stuff.

someone has already offered to host, but i would like to say that i'm offering too. haha.

#308448

I vote for judges System.

and maybe textpattern for a frontpage, dunno, I'm more familiar to Wordpress-coding.

#308458

'Course, we would have to figure out who's actually going to work on this ;).

We'll see what Ave and Unbe say.

Unbe's too busy at the moment with his Serbian whores. Check back in this thread in 48 hours.

I have it on good sources (my Serbian whore spy) that he's busy perfecting his evil plan to procure ADSL by Friday.

If the site does go toward a CMS, check this site out to demo pretty much every CMS/Blog out there.
