OS X VMWare version leaked

We can confirm that a torrent containing a VMware image of Tiger x86 has been leaked to a major torrent site. This virtual hard drive image has supposedly been hacked to circumvent TPM and run on non-SSE3 machines. Sources tell us that the "author" of this torrent used the PearPC emulator to extract necessary files from an installation of the DVD that was leaked a few weeks ago. We obviously have not tested this image (and will not, due to its blatant violation of the DMCA) but we will report more on its quality as we receive word.

Please do not ask me or our members for download links. They will not be given. Besides if you are too stupid to know where to find it, you probably don't deserve to have it anyway. On that note, I have it downloading right now. I will keep you guys updated on whether it actually works and maybe post a screenshot once I have it up and running.

Found it. Thanks.

#307488

great, thank you very much

#307491

It works, but it is slow. Since there is no graphics acceleration and every window and menu is being processed by the CPU instead of the GPU

#307507

I have an SSE3 enabled processor. I should try it out and tell you guys the speed. Hmm.. too bad it's illegal.

#307512

Apparently someone got it to run natively now.

I don't get how people don't have SSE3 support on their CPU. Is it really that new?

Yeah, they've only been in new processors since last year.

you idiots! don't fall into the temptation! you should use real macs instead of operating system on a computer not sold by apple! please don't hurt this company especially when they are in a sensitive situation of switching to intel. i really hate that hacker who made this possible. hope it can't go online, hate any quartz support, and only 50 (sounds like a good number eh?) seconds per frame! arg i'm so mad!

#307526

well um i can't say id didn't see this coming....if tweaked properly this low deman os on the superior processors should be very responsive....but to me it seems like too much hassle....im only gonna get a mac when they bring out Leopard...ie the next generation of imacs and power/i books

You need a Thorazine drip.

Friend of mine was playing with this half a day yesterday and only managed to get it to work on his new Laptop. He basically at this point said the same thing as far as graphic acceleration goes and how much this is going to kick-ass after words.

If this keeps up by the end of the year all of us will be sitting on our PCs using OS X!

Only if you're willing to use a cracked version.

I'll be the only one still here, sitting at my PC. Just staring. :P

If you have a legitimate copy of OS X (which is not all that much, especially if you are a college student) I do not see a problem with you hacking up very few files to get it to boot. If that will even still be the case by then.

Only true die hard fans will buy a Apple computer to support Apple. Everyone else who downloads it for free are pirates and hope they will be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Hopefully Apple will make it ultra-super-duper hard to install it on a generic pc. It's sad to see how Mac OSX is becoming less of a pure bred OS and now, just about anyone can have it.

If you have a legitimate copy of OS X (which is not all that much, especially if you are a college student) I do not see a problem with you hacking up very few files to get it to boot. If that will even still be the case by then.

Against the rules even if you have a real copy. It must be used to run on a Apple computer.

Anyway ....

I could care less about anyone who has Mac OSX on a generic pc ... you still don't have a true mac. To me it's like having a replica Ferrari, while real mac users have a true Ferrari.

Well unless you have purchased the Apple Developer Kit, you cannot legaly posses a copy of the X86 version of OS X.

Just because you own a legitimate version of the PUBLIC release, does not give you license or any right to the developer release.

And if you read the license agreement for your legitimate copy, you are not allowed to reverse engineer or "hack" it to run on another hardware platform.

That being said, this is still a topic about WAREZ which is forbidden.

This thread is turning into a "how-to" and "where can I get it" thread. All of which are violations of forum rules.

Mods or admins need to close it as there is no legitimate reason to have this discussed here.

EDIT: And of course there will be fanboy/flamebait comments like the one above mine as well.

To me it's like having a replica Ferrari, while real mac users have a true Ferrari.

I wouldn't buy a Ferrari if it uses a particular fuel that is only available in two gas stations in my city. Same as Apple: most PC user don't buy Apple because of incompatibility with most of the software they have. Don't forget that PC users are more than 95% of the market.

Why I try to emulate Apple? Well, I'm trying to make my Win look like OS X just because of its beautiful design, THAT'S IT.

#307581

to all of you who said to me to relax, i only type like that when i'm serious agianst wrong and illegal stuff. and i'm not overreacting. i was against warez. and when you opposed me, it means you love to talk and support warez stuff even in this forum. and i'm saying this calmly. not like those who overeact to a meaningful post.

also, I support and love all the features of tiger, and i am thankful that the features don't work on warez stuff ;)

and, lastly, i do apologize if i did seem exploding. it's just my type style :P

#307583

I agree with Steelfist... this thread needs to be closed.

It violates forum rules.

The only thing noteworthy about this is someone hacked it to run outside the dev box... nice... now move on.

It's still warez discussion.

It's the same concept as PearPC, just on an X86 emulation platform.

And NO, you can't just drop the CD in and install it.

It's illegal anyway.
