well, i'm torn. right now i have Mandrake 9.1, but i also like Slackware a bunch. and Slack wasn't even on there! anyway, i voted Mandrake.

C'mon, it was like the second distro ever (and for a while, the only one out there), show it some respect.

Mandrake would have to be my second fav though. Its easy to use/NTFS resizer/and it provides the ability to do things by hand. IMO, its still pure Linux, unlike Xandros, Lycoris, and some other posers.

I have never get deeper than Mandrake, Red hat and Suse into the Linux experience, but I thought Linux "experts" always choose Debian...

Debian sucks. Its stability isnt any better than Slackwares anymore, and its packages are always waaaay out of date.

And apt-get, while it does what it says perfectly, is useless for me. I always compile by hand, because you get the best performace and less bugs. Im a patient guy, so I dont mind waiting.

Ive never really had dependancy problems either, but some people are always complaining about it. I just think most of them dont update their Library Links or something.

Keep them coming. Im waiting for someone to tell me about a new distro that I can try out.

Ive been using Knoppix a lot lately. Because ive got a lot of PCs I cant install Linux on, and it allows me to carry linux around in my pocket, so im never stuck on a Windows machine again.

Also, you guys should check out: GOBOLINUX. Im downloading it now. Its based on a new directory structure, like:

/programs/XFree86 and

/configuration/drives

etc.

Its a live CD, so no install is needed.

I hope its as good as it says it is.

i dont understand why people have to say bsd rules over linux or unix is better beacuse of this.. ahh who cares.. there all *nix's so there cool..i love any tytpe of *nix operating system.. there just cool.....that in cludes all bsd's all linux's unix irix la la la la the lsit goes on and on
