oh yeah spotlight is great....i really doubt my problems are due to spotlight...i initially thought so but the process mdimport or whatever is never taxing anything....as time goes on it seems that indesign cs is the culprit...im going to download the cs2 trial and see if thats any better
iChatAgent wouldn't effect performance, it'd only effect you trying to start a video chat.
oh yeah, i know that....just one of those pain in the neck things you know...like when the check engine light in your car gets stuck on...nothings REALLY broken, but its just a pain

Not quite. You're right: I haven't tried it, which is precisely why I'm asking. It's not because I'm ignorant, Unbe, it's because Mubach talked about perhaps Spotlight indexing was causing photo's lag. Must you push the limit by calling me ignorant? You're a mod, so maybe you should set an example for the rest of us by not being a jerk.
The lag only occurs when Spotlight is indexing your system. And it only indexes it once, when you first log into Tiger. After that, it operates as normal.

Its still a pain in the ass, esXXI- I see no mention of performance loss in Photo's post
Do you face the same problem, btw? - havent heard anyone else except us two complain about it...
Apparently it's a wide problem with Tiger, I've yet to log in and not have ichatagent break within ten minutes, at least it's an easy temporary fix to get video chat working.
