Its not that bad, you want to see ugly... Gamecube, it was was PURPLE
Dreamcast was the only good looking console at launch imo.
We'll have to wait and see the real thing, I don't believe its going to stay white.
OMFG this thing doesn't look like a game console >_< :slant: :slant: wondering why MS hasn't sacked their designers
WTF, who cares? In my opinion it looks FINE for a console... especially considering it will be better than the other competitors...
Ya know, I really think Microsoft could done a better job with the design of this thing. From the pics that I have seen thus far it looks kine like it should say "Dell" or something like that on the case. This does NOT look like a console (and I have the orginal Xbox and own other consoles in the past). I have to agree with Timan, it looks a lot better than the Gamecube (who desiged that, Fisher Price?). At the least the the orginal Xbox reminds that something Darth Vader would play. Still waiting what the PS3 is going to look like.
I can't really tell what it looks like. The pictures are taken too close.
The best looking game system has to be the NES. Followed by PS2, then Dreamcast, then Gamecube (despite the color, Nintendo thought they had a "trademark" color going their way. But the silver and black colors definitely made it better).
The PSX would have been the best if it were released in the US.
Even though I have never actually played on an X-Box, I can say that I never liked the look of the system. The cheesy logo on top always pissed me off cause it looked cool in pictures. And it was friggin' huge.

if so, why has your signature and your avator that GC colour? ![]()
Here are some better pics. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8191/Xbox-36...erals-Revealed/
Eh.. not bad looking.
If that were made by apple you would be saying its the coolest thing ever....
It looks kick ass to me, I want one
Wow, that does look like a Dell computer.
Well i have been following the xbox 360 development for a long time and frankly I am dissapointed. I mean when u put the xbox360 horizontally it looks like a dell system minus the Dell logo. Also I was pissed when Microsoft decided to go against Blueray technology. I like the fact that the xbox 360 will be using the "IBM64bit/Ati" technology (same as apple), the PS3 will kill the xbox360 in terms of power and capabilities. The 'Cell' technology used by PS3 is looking very promising. Lets see what PS3 has in store for us.
I love my purple gamecube...
and the xbox 360 looks like a mce top box... (media center edtion computer
)
I just rembembered, E3 starts in a week!!!
The Cell CPU is going to greatly improve the PS line, but it's really a PowerPC on steriods.

I have attached the comaprison chart for the current PS-2 chip and the new PS-3 chip.
Too bad M$ didn't go this route.. after all, Sony does not have exclusive rights to the technology.
It was noted earlier that Sony and Toshiba do not have exclusive rights to Cell. While IBM cannot comment on our speculation, it would seem possible that the Cell processor could be used by Apple Computer in a Power Mac G-series computer (as a G6 perhaps).
looks sweet to me... i want one
Looks waaay nicer than most game consoles and theyr kinda making it look like the G5.
I wonder if u can run linux on that ?
thoughts>
You can probably run Linux on it... I mean you can run Linux or OS X on an Xbox ![]()
I think it looks awesome... I'll definitely be snagging one of these.
You can't run OS X on an X Box.
The new one... maybe, but not a current one as it uses an Intel Celeron CPU.
that looks crap..i mean if it was at least aluminum it would be better since they copied the powermac just so many ways with the shiny aluminum buttons/fake aluminum color/perforated holes
and the name is just so gay.. i mean it's not even cool for geeks! ps3 will totally just PWN IT
It looks a lot like the Dell Optiplex's that I have in my school if you were to lay it horizontally.
Edit : Forgot to mention that I like it, but I think that other colors should be available. But I'll judge it when official pictures are released.
rjohnstone, u CAN run osX on the xbox. Not directly, but through the use of pearpc inside Linux. Guess u can imagine how slow thats gonna be.
Oxideous, the xbox 360 will be skinnable on the outside. Personally i like the black-green combo better.
P.S. I have a modded xbox.
@rjohnstone it uses a p3 and btw you can run pearpc on linux on it so i think thats what derilekt was referring to.
it doesn't look to bad and as nabilanwar mentioned the exterior of the xbox 360 is supposedly entirely customizable.
The XBox uses a 733MHz Intel Celeron w/ Coppermine Core, not a PIII as most people mistake it for.
Running OS X in PearPC under Linux on an XBox is impossible.
Since the units only came with 64 MB of ram and upgrading the memory to a capacity sufficient to run OS X in PearPC under Linux is not possible it further illustrates my point.
The memory in an XBox is soldered onto the mainboard and while there are third party replacements that will give you 128 MB... it's still not sufficient to run PearPC with OS X.
You can install PearPC but if you want to run OS X, forget it.
