[help] Making the font looks smoother

First off, please have a look at this screenshot:

They are susumu's screenshots, do you notice that HandelGotD looks very smooth? I've tried turning on cleartype, I've even used cleartype tune app but couldn't get the same smoothness. I'm just wondering how to have that effect, it looks really good. I've noticed the same smoothness on Spina, Lazio and TSU ss too, there must be a tweak or something to achieve that.

Does anybody have an idea? :confused: :confused:

Its a powertoy like tweakui and you have to pay a visit to M$.

You can also try the Online ClearType Tuner on MS site.

But i've already try this and the smooth effect is not like in susumu shots, maybe a different font?

@Laertis: i'm running at 1024x768 and it's an LCD

- your avatars don't look the same but pretty similar

- people who use SAQLA's apps say so because SAQLA's app are not meant to be distributed, only people who have his "invitation" can have it. :slant: :slant:

I've tried using STANDARD smoothing edge (not the ClearType one) this is the result:

Looks good with HandelGot, but really sucks with other fonts! :confused:

No idea why yours doesnt look smooth. I ue HandelGotD as my primary font since the past one year with Cleartype on and it looks like Susumu's screenie - dare I say, even better

Right click on the desktop, select properties

Go to the appearance tab and click "Effects"

Under "Use the following method to smooth

edges of screen fonts" there is a dropdown box

Here you can select "Standard" or "Cleartype"!

1° problem

Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem

Delete any strings like: "NoDispScrSavPage" "NoDispBackgroundPage" "NoDispAppearancePage" or change the value to 0.

2° problem

Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop

Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called "FontSmoothingType"

(value =1 for Standard; 2 for ClearType).
