Adobe buys macromedia!

Well I have only ever used Adobe's Photoshop and Illustrator, which do have a good ui.

I see what you mean,,, I've never seen wither of those adobe apps, But I agree, they do look ugly...

I think the ui of Apple's apps are good, But I dont like the grey skin... It just looks... odd...

Hmm, I disagree: I think the Apple apps are gorgeous :) (except for FCP).

I think you should be able to change the skin, But I can live with the default look... It's not too bad...

i hope this dosen't give microsoft any naughty ideas of purchasing apple..............i hate it when there's no competition!

Aargh. This is a nightmare. Nightmare I tell you. Nothing good can come of this. Now, whatever Adobe says..goes. Between Adobe and Macromedia, they covered about 90% of the multimedia and print graphics industries.

I want to say I have faith, that this will work out for the universal good. But this is the universal truth.

"Power corrupts. Absolute power - or monopolies - corrupt absolutely". Besides, I've always felt that friendly competition promotes innovation. Who does "Macrodobe" or "Adomedia" (both sound horrible I know) use as competition now?

This is trouble. trouble I tell you.

:( goes to secure original copies of Macromedia MX 2004 studio. These will be worth something someday me thinks.

i wonder what will happen to prices and product diversity. :/

Okay well obviously this is huge news.... the idea of the take over or merger between the two companies... resolves the issue that Macromedia would have ousted Adobe if they developed more technologies into their programs. As far as i can remember Macromedia outgrew adobe a few years running during the time that flash animation came along... and to see how far it's come... Adobe took the risk of being dealt the death card.

I can only see that Adobe will drop a few programs in favor of the ones produced my macromedia... GoLive was a bust for Adobe and well the possibilities as Freehand becoming a replacement for Pagemaker or something of that nature because it handles text a whole lot better than Illustrator in my opinion.

I do feel that we will see some kind of drastic changes in the future..

Pooky, you can't compare Apple apps to other companies. The beauty is on a whole different level :).

I don't think this is a very good development. Sure both companies are very good, and have produced some incredible products, but this is maninly due to competition between one another.

Competition drives diversity, and quality. With macromedia gone, we'll have some great short-term bundles to spend our gas money on, but in the long-run, I think we're going to be losing out... :/

Aside from the "no more competition" angle, I am also apprehensive about the new prices. With a student license I could get Macromedia apps for as cheap as $50 each... Photoshop is a lot more. I hope that this merger won't cut out some of the userbase because of prices :/
