What operating system are you more exited about comming out? Windows "Longhorn", or Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger"?

It still didnt come out, but Microsoft claims that its going to be done by 2006... But the first official Longhorn Beta, is supposly comming out some time time May...

Tiger is just another upgrade. Has some really cool new features, but nothing dramaticaly different from Panther.

Longhorn is pretty much a re-write of Windows (the reason it's taking soooooo long). So I would say I'm more excited about what the final version of Longhorn will look like and how it will function.

Of course I would probably have to upgrade all my hardware just to install it.

I believe that with the updates Tiger will get by the time Longhorn is released, Tiger will be the better OS (Though probably not as popular as LH) Anyways, you might want to correct the spelling in the title (excited*)

Yeah, probably... From what I heard the minimum requirements are gonna be like a 3GHz cpu, 1 gig of RAM, and a 128Mb graphics card... So obviously they're doing something very BIG with longhorn... Compared to XP atleast for which the minimum requirements are like 300Mhz CPU, 64Mb of RAM, and no requirements for a video card...

Well my latest system I built for home is a P4 3.20e Ghz, 800Mhz FSB, 1GB ram, ATI Radeon 9550 with 256 MB ram and a 120GB SATA drive.

Mostly so me and my wife can finaly do some real work with PS and also so I can play LOMAC (Lock-On Moder Air Combat). The thing is awesome but uses a ton of video memory with all the textures, detail and shading enabled.

Which means it might meet the minimum requirements when Longhorn gets released.

if the topic is which one i'm more excited about, then it would be longhorn because we've been waiting so long. the anticipation has been building since 2003... i've got to see what they've been cooking up for the past few years.

I am very excited to see what Microsoft has up it's sleeve in terms of Longhorn. The screenshots I have seen since I first heard about it's release have only gotten better, so I predict the final release will be amazingly awsome.

It will be cool, but I'm not that excited right now because it's SOO FAR AWAY. But Tiger on the other hand is just around the corner, and I CAN'T WAIT!!!

My vote goes for Longhorn because Apple has only really been pushing the envelope for the LOOK of the GUI recently, while Microsoft has actually been preparing many innovation in the USE of the GUI.

Facist - Actually LH will have different modes, one of which is Windows classic (needs no more than XP does) but the normal default LH look (Aero Glass) requirements are something like 1GHz, 256MB of RAM, Radeon 9600xt.

1.)longhorn-i use XP so i really need to upgrade this thing!!! and the gui of xp sucks!!

Yeah, I know about the minimal mode, I was just talking about the requirements for the "pretty" mode. But even WITH the classical style it will require much more, because longhorn will have just so much more stuff in it then xp does...
