Are the Aqua Apps working for you?
the aquaTunes software someone made a few posts down from this is running but it won't play any songs for me [it aborts after I double-click a song] (which IMO kind of defeats the purpose 
)
jef, the apps like italk and aqua-browser are running pretty much cool.
Problematic apps:

- aqua mail is actually the appli that does all problems ......
- i can never delete and get rid of old acounts (how can i by the waY?)
- with the latesest chilkat mail and aquacontrols it still not working well
- aqua finder is ok, but wont run icons more than 48x48, wont show all icons, and unfortunatly, as much as its identical to the real thing, is a lot slower than the regular explorer...
- anything else is working just great and im glad to say i run them almost constantly (aqua browser, italk!)
Appreciate the work you put on those app and for that we owe you.
Well I echo Goku's views....
AquaFinder is really accurate in it's emulation of the Finder but it is very slow which makes me switch back to explorer...
AquaMail causes most of the problems for me as well.....it's a lot more unstable than the other AquaApps......
AquaBrowser and iTalk are too good!!! (although AquaBrowser does take a lot of time to load)
But the main reason I don't use them is a simple one.....My desktop uses a Brushed Metal theme and the Aqua apps (except iTalk) are not in the Brushed style..... 
I know that you are working on adding skin support and that it will take time....Thanks for everything..

yes, but i get this error in getvers? 
There is definitly something wrong with aquamail. I get an error at startup of aquamail. After uninstalling both aquacontrols and aquamail and then reinstalling them I get the same error. I think a lot of other people are also having a problem with this.
The most likely problem is that you have not installed ChilkatControls.....half of the problems in the AquaApps are caused due to users not installing ChilkatControls...If you're getting something like 'Error 443' then this is the problem.
Get ChilkatControls from www.chilkatsoft.com
Then AquaMail will run decently

Ummm...Jef couldn't these problems be solved by simply integrating the necessary ChilkatControls into AquaControls.....I think the applications too would run faster if that were done...

Actually, there is no way to integrate the Chilkat Controls into AquaControls. It is a separate resource that gets loaded by AquaMail at runtime. That's how ActiveX controls work.
Also, AquaMail is the only one of the Aqua Apps that is dependent on the Chilkat Controls. And it's only the ChilkatMail control that is needed.
I installed ChilkatControl but my aquaMail app still does not want to work :-(
When I call the app, it loads up but when it tries to load the mail boxes (inbox, Sent MAil etc..), I get a chilkatmail error .. says I need to enter the registration code. Where/How do I do this ? I went to the chilkat website and it says the calling app needs to include a VB code fragment with the registration code in the fragment.
Please help !!
iTalk : I downloaded the latest version that JEf mentioned in the other post but this one does not want to work at all. It gives me the following : Could not located Resource.bmp
The earlier version would load but not do anything.
Please help !!
What exactly is chilk-at-mail? How would a program aqua soft created need another program completely unrelated to them?? I dont understand. And by the way I installed chilk-at-mail and it still screws up. I dont know whats wrong. Another thing, is that when I use any of the official aquasoft applications they all load up fine, (except for aquamail with an error at loadup), its just that when I try to use them, they dont really work correctly and then after clicking on a couple of different buttons in the window they crash. This especially happens with the finder. I dont know if my computer or what but they keep crashing. <_< I have the latest aquacontrols, have reinstalled many times. Also, I have servive pack 1.

I've fixed that and will have new builds soon 
They are all working.
A few mouseover error's but nothing too drastic...
My only problem is the loadup time of Aqua-Finder and Aqua-Browser (It it loading setting from Ie)?
A little bit too slow. It doesn't mean I don't use them exclusivelly though.

i cant even install italk... it just freezes when in the blue install screen whjen its searching for other components.... :-(
but the others... aqua mail, i really like the display but too many errors, and kinda glitchy, and havent tried itunes yet..
btw are you going to make a program like iCal, or is there a similar program for PC, i need one like that..

A. I often get the error "Out of memory".
B. I don't like applications with many ActiveX Controls inside.
Let me explain point B.:
I mean most of the people here using WindowBlinds, ObjectBar or even native MsStyle's for skinning. Why did you use own ActiveX Controls for skinning within VB-Application if WindowBlinds / MsStyle's even do this? It needs only resources and makes the whole VB-Application terribly slow. Another problem is, that many people are loving the "Brushed" Style and your applications doesn't support that.
I'm also programming in VB - if I had more free time, I would re-code all of your apps without your ActiveX controls - just to show you how stable, accurate and fast an VB-Application can be ...

I'm not sure you fully understand the purpose of the Aqua Apps. They do NOT skin Windows. They are programs written from the ground up to FULLY emulate the look and feel of their Mac OS X counterparts. There is no skinning software that can fully emulate the look. And as far as I'm concerned, never will be.
I'm curious how you would create a program such as AquaMail in VB without the use of ActiveX Controls. Imagine you have several forms, each with many OS X style textboxes. Without creating a single custom textbox control and then using that custom control throughout the application, how would you accomplish that?
I'm suprised you are having that much trouble with the apps. I've never claimed they were speedy but they are fast enough for me that I use them at work every day.
And lastly, THESE ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL APPLICATIONS. I do not charge money for them and do not claim they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've made them for the fun of it and for others to enjoy using if they like.
I look forward to seeing your "non-activeX" VB applications.

Following: what I mean is that the MsStyles and other skinning software skins the wohle GUI including windows, buttons, etc. Your AquaApps have their own look & feel. But some people don't like the mix of windows with left or right sided max/min/close Buttons and want an uniform look of all applications running under windows. Example: Someone who uses Iceman's Visual Style 2.0 with Brushed Windows. Now he runs your AquaMail or AquaBrowser he didn't get the same style, because your apps have an own skinning function. Understand?
Why don't write only skinning components that emulate Elements wich aren't supported by Windows and let the MsStyle do the rest..?
Note: Such an application without ActiveX controls is not very hard to code - also you can diretly compile ActiveX into applications or use DLL's wich are more efficently.

I don't write skinning components because I'm not interested in putting a shiney finish on top of windows. I'm interested in emulating the EXACT functionality of the Mac OS X GUI. No skinning program will ever do that. Plus, as we've seen with Windowblinds and even MSStyles, not everything gets skinned as you would expect.

I do understand what you are getting at. If someone wants to have complete control over the look of their email program, than they should use Outlook Express or something like that. and rely on Windowblinds. Or they can use Trillian for their chat program. As I stated earlier. My goal is to recreate the EXACT LOOK AND FEEL of the Mac OS X applications as they exist (unmodified) on the Mac. I never intended on creating skinnable applications.
That said, as I continue to modify the Aqua Applications, I am making more of the visual aspects customizable via bitmap files.

Why don't you use existing wblinds/XP APIs/engines to paint widgets that CAN be painted using them and leave just the stuff that CAN'T to your activex ctls...
