Okay, now here's my question for you people: if you were going to start a project for a community (or just start a community) .......

i think that is more than enough to quote.

if you are starting something for the community ur not looking to make money or break even. you`re doing it FOR the community, which means free.

IF you are looking to make money, than ur not doing it for the comminity, aren`t you?

ur doing it for urself and ur personal gain.

i admit this is a tricky situation, but as i said in my prev post, charging for walls/themes/skins/icons will ruin the community and turn it into a marketplace.

sadly, this is just how capitalisam works. first it`s a dedicated, free community. then when an opportunity for money making arises, someone butchers it and trys to milk it. (i`m not aiming this at anyone from this community, i`m saying it in general)

I'm going to tell you right now that pwnzrzpat is trying to make money so he can throw it right back at a community. He and I have no intention of using that money for our own personal fun-- Pat and I intend to start a community of our own with this money.

i don`t intend to go into his motives, nor how he will spend the money. once the money leaves my hand, i don`t control how it`s used.

but this IS a typical pay-for-goods transaction.

oh and if you intend to start your own community from the money you make, you and your NEW community will benefit, not the current one.

if you reallly think the community would benefit from this "new community" then why not tell the community about the new community that you want to start that will benefit this community. Tell them taht you new community will need money and maybe the old community will give you some money to start your new community that the old community will be greatly interested in and benefit from (the new community)...

Yes, dont blackmail us with some secret project. People do not pay blindly its as simple as that. If you need donations to fuel a perfectly legitimate project, tell us about it, dont make us pay for what we dont know.

There was no mention of a secret project, you said the money was to pay for your expenses while making the walls (whatever that may be - I think I run up costs in the region of 25p (50cents) for a cup of coffee).

I think a direct approach would be much better received by everybody than the ransom for secret project mysteries.

I feel this is a shame to take away what could have been a popular thread thanking you for your walls (and possibly getting donations) into 2 pages of the community explaining exactly why we feel we shouldn't have to pay to even see your walls.

i must say... ive noticed a slight increase in releases on aqua-soft. it seems like more people are trying to offer more to the community but after all, i think were all here to ... i dont know what im talking about.

i paid for thewalls... only a buck.. i dont think people should have to pay but i paid anyways cause i liked what i saw.

about that secret community thingy... wasnt really paying attention.... but i think everyone should not worry about that secret community but pay more attention to the fact that A-S's first boyband... BOY BLITZ!... staring me (claudio), unbe (euro-dave), and seph (sven) will be in the studio this summer and then touring across america and europe in 2006.
