damn, looks nice from screenies but i don't have desktopx or objectbar. Wonder how much of my system it would eat if i got it running.

#248248

bugs or things that are annoying:

1. everything has to be double clicked

2. the dropshadow makes programs maximize too low and it doesnt touch the bar

3. wheres the object dock skin?

i need to test it out more and come back to u, but just those things that i listed make it too annoying to use extensively

#248250

Flarex: there isn't much of a resource hit running these. I'm on a 350 PII machine and I get an average resource hit of about 12K - 15K for Desktopx amd 2K for Objectbar. Firefox itself hits me for 42K so they do have a small footprint.

Scheming:

1. it is set to default, you can change the amount of clicks in DesktopX configure panel. Go under preferences tab and set to single click. I have mine set that way so sometimes I forget to shave it setup automatically to single-click.

2. edit the workspace to 30 or around there.

3. I will be releasing the objectbar within in hour. The objectdock background is a simple white square set to a transparency of 50%. If it's needed I could make a quick one and upload it somewhere for download.

Thankyou for the bug report and I'll see about setting the links to single-click without the user having to worry abou that. Look forward to hearing more from you. Thankyou again.

another quick thing, i dont know how hard/ easy it would be to make this skinnable, but it would be nice to see the desktopx theme in aqua blue too

#248254

looks good man!

my only question before using it is system resources. how much does it take?

also, can i use Yz dock instead of objectdock?

thanks! and great work too :)

#248265

Yes aqua version would be nice... tradition and all that. :)

completely random pero... DOMINCANOS in da house!

#248270

i tried it and i dont really care for the fact that it takes over your desktop icons, and i dont think all the widgets are from dashboard. infact im sure there not.

i like the idea of the widgets being selectable like dashboard. too bad u cant have JUST that...

#248275

Very Nnce work Four13

2 ****ie questions:

1. I got this file in a zip with a bunch of files. How do i install it to my Desktop X.

2. How do i use the quick media player buttons?

Thanks :)

#248277

Union Jack: check post #4 for resource usage.

Franco: calm down ;)

Autumnist: an aqua version will be included in the next update. which should happen later on today. Still working on the preference dialog to switch between the two. Also working on a help dialog now as i've had a couple people ask how to set this up.

Grim: if you'd like to see your desktop icons go into DesktopX configuration and uncheck 'Hide desktop icon'. They'll behave as they normally would. yes, some of the widgets are not included in Dashboard. The BBC newsfeed being one. They are as close as I could get. The Phone Book is in developement. It will look closer to that of Dashboard in the future. Also, I'm not a huge fan of iTunes and as such did not include that...if there is a need or want for it, I could whip one up but there are some already available for download out there...

Abxccd:

1. the file should be a dxtheme extension. Run DesktopX, load theme and find the SophOS4.0(gazelle) file and select that. it will run automatically. Also you can just double-click the file and it will run.

2. the quick media player buttons control the built-in player (E2 Media). To get things playing hit the function key F7 (or it might be F10 depending on what key is set to default in Desktopx preferences). click the playlist button (PL) and drag and drop the files you want to listen to into the section marked 'new playlist'. the files will begin to play and you'll be able to use the quick buttons.

Note: You must have a playlist selected for the quick media buttons to work. (well...regardless, they will work technically but since there won't be any tracks to play there isn't really any reason to click them)

Hope that answers most of your questions, if anyone else has any just continue leaving your comments here I will try to help the best I can.

Thankyou to all that have downloaded and tried this theme.

#248306

thanks. i won't use this until i get the aqua version though. other colors are not my favorite, unless... is there a graphite version?

EDIT: i went to the devart page and it looks like graphite to me... it looked a lot like milk at first.

Looks great!...gonna have to try it old chap!

#248947

If you have DesktopX Pro, pleeeez create widgets. Unfortunately I have problems loading the theme, because the screen resolution is more wide that I have (1152 x 864 max). Independent widgets can be loaded from a "Gazelle" modded ObjecDock theme. What do you think about this?

or please, give permission to all have DX Pro to create widgets. Sorry about my bad English, but I hope to understand me.

#251550

I unfortunately do not have DesktopX Pro. It's a great idea though...if anyone has the Professional version and would like to do this, please get in touch with. I will be able to provide you with the objects and graphics for icons and dock background.

Thankyou in advance and to Xanthrax for this great idea.

#251567

great thing :)

I will try saying this in the nicest way possible.....Read threads BEFORE posting. The dude already answerd your question. Gesus.... :slant:

lol, i know he already posted, but i'm not sure if ram usage differs with machine or not. sorry. and no one answered the yz dock part of it

and for a guy with the word "jesus" in his name, you'd think you'd know that it was spelled "jesus" and not "gesus"

lol :slant:

#252580

Four13 Designs, please, can you make this theme for smaller resolutions? I have only 1152 x 864 and can't launch the widgets. I cannot find them.

#263314

Now what would be AMAZING is if you could somehow replicate Dashboard (and only dashboard) with all of the widgets and the tray and all. That would totally kick butt.

Hey, Four13 Designs...

I can't seem to find the "ObjectBar-Graphite Theme" within this release, there are no

.obpack or .zip files within the file. I've also looked in many other online sites,

and can't find it anywhere. Please help.

Thanks for this great DX theme. It Rocks!

Peace...

#278374

I'm having huge trouble using this with 1024x768... are there settings that I can change, or will there be a release for different resolutions? I really want to use this but can't because half the things are cut off!

#278610

I'm getting this before it gets ceased and decisced.

Nice work.

#278612

Kenta: Thanks and hopefully this will fly just under Apple's radar. ;)

Tri: I am currently working on implementing independent resolutions for this theme. Until then, it's easily fixed by going into the object browser and adjusting the y position of the object 'menu_widget' to 768.

UserX: That was a mistake on my part. Having been in the process of moving at the time it must have slipped my mind bfore uploading the zip. As soon as I can get my computer up and running I will be releasing a new version of the theme and will include the OB theme as well.
