Linux can definitely look very much like OS X, as is evident by my desktop, though there aren't many people out there interested in it. As far as I know, I go as far as anyone in emulating it. Engage for the dock, ROX-Filer for the file manager, the rest is standard Gnome with customization.

(don't say KDE is evil and don't flame or engage a KDE/Gnome war. I just have many problems with sound in gnome (especially with cedega in gnome))

KDE just doesnt have the flexibility of Gnome. Plain and simple.

just switched to gnome

too bad i need to install all those libraries for engage

i saw a file mananger wha thave functions like finder (the blue text for the type of the file and the size) where can i get it ?

And how do i change the icon size for bigger ones in gnome ?

X.Org is indeed the best X Server in my opinion.

People that use linux go towards speed and the best usability. Most linux users are programers so they dont have good taste per say. I think gtk2 is better. Soon enough the Cairo intergration will blow everyone away. Making linux even closer to OSX.

For those who dont know Cairo is a vector based engine. If it does officially become apart of GTK (maybe by version 3 ) we can see stuff like this

And Dream_Team the application you are refering to is *Thunar* witch is a GTK2 based file manager for Xfce. And yes it can be used in Gnome and E17 and every other window manager.
