Getting Linux like Panther?

Hey, could someone write/point me to a tutorial or anything to get my Mandrake 10.1 Linux more Mac OS X like? I'm using KDE, Gnome is weird. That foot never settled good with me.. :o

wow a linux user :P first one iv seen so far on these forums ( i dont get around much ) i think i need to post more ! :blinks:

#244758

Yah, I noticed from the lack of Linux posts on these forums.. haha.

#244759

Linux users don't post because they don't have any problems. :P

(I post often, so take that into account when assessing my "problems")

On Topic: Try gnome-look.org, kde-look.org, RoberTO's themes (http://www.users.monornet.hu/linux/), and GrandMasta's themes (does he still update?).

The archives of Gooey will be up as soon as I can figure out how to archive IPB 1.3 (;)), and you can get info from there too.

#244772

Thanks Contra! I hope you can get gooeylinux up fairly quickly :)

#244813

Yeah me to, Im getting tired of bluecurve lol :P

#244871

for kde i use baghira theme.

if anyone know how to use left glyphs on it , you're welcome :)

#244940

Nothing....

#248153

Ditto on Baghira...try kxdocker (latest version decent) or ksmoothdock. I found kxdocker runs smoother, but the configuration is a little bit difficult.

yay contra! get me my siro back soon... :D

#270232

Thanks guys! Big improvement! :)

#270871

Does anyone know of any icon sets?

#270885

Baghira is one of the coolest aqua theme for KDE ever, but I wonder if there is an equivalent for Gnome?

#270955

If this tutorial is good I think I might switch to linux...

And I make making a tutorial for windows!!!!

Gnome has got many wonderful gtk themes.

#271118

Most stuff that I've found for themes and icons is on either www.kde-look.org or www.gnome-look.org and using the search function for os x, panther, jaguar, related keywords or sorting results for themes by the most downloads or highest rating. I have a set of icons that will work for KDE that I've been adding to if anyone is interested, I could post it when I think it's a little bit more complete.

#271151

I'm yet to see a truly convincing panther job on linux, nothing that comes close to what has been done on windows at least.

I would say making sure you have Xorg with the Xcomposite extension for shadows goes a long way to adding the feel to it.

All the skins suck, as of now.

They pale in comparison

Noone who has made a Mac skin for *nix has any eye for detail or style

Perhaps you can do better?

True, there isn't anything that comes close to the Windows ports, but you really shouldn't knock something that you cannot better yourself (unless you can).

#271448

yes, I know there is some beautiful GTK themes for Gnome :P it's just I haven't heard of a panther or tiger port for Gnome :D

i found a good jaguar base, i just need some ressources from popular mac themes (kamino (popular for me :P) panther, milk ...)

iceWM seems to support anti alpha blended corners. gotta reboot on nix.
