AveDesk 1.2 Status

That's exactly what I meant to say liquidplasmaflow, you just worded it better :D

Is there anyway that this can be implemented into Version 1.2?

#241268

i would like to see these features to be added:

turn off antialising (on the text)

auto save configurations (really needed if u use the "note" desklet)

#241291

An easy solution to profeten's problem would be a desklet that when double-clicked, it saves the current config. Now to figure out how to code it. Or a simple Save Configuration in the context menu would be nice. Keep up the great work!

Coming along great ave!

One request, support for 'themes'. So you could save a collection of widgets and their desktop location. So I could swithc like I could VS's, because some don't look right with certain widgets.

He said that will be possible on the first page I believe.

#241301

awesome!! like always. thanks for your work. for me the best update will be themes. once again thanks

I was hoping it would be available now... BUT, got disappointed :(

Is the source available? In SourceForge? If not, why not posting source Ave? common, you can stay busy for life-time but other can still be part of this :)

In original Apple, when we double click an icon, it shows alpha-blanded zoom-out+fade-out effect of icon. I hope this kind of thing goes inside Ave 1.2 :D

I think you can get source or the beta : give some bucks to ave and you will get that.

Two extra screenshots showing the new desktop icons / shortcutsoptions. In the first screenshot you will see a shortcut to an Internet connection(ADSL van HCC) and a shorcut to an application (VMWare Workstation).

The second screenshot will show you a shortcut to an application (avedesk.exe) and the recyclebin (Prullenbak). Also visible is a part of Herd's vumeter.

Does this mean all icons on the desktop will become avedesk shortcuts? Like Stardocks IconX? Cause that would be cool.

Also not sure if it was mentioned yet, but can labels also have a shadow option?

I just read the topic how you wanted beta tester for removable storage and the reminded me of a problem I have currently. Not really a problem, but more a glitch.

When my external hd is disconnected the aveIcon can not be selected, moved, rollovered, or anything, but when it connects its fine. Also the only way to edit it is to go to properties. I can not rightclick on the icon on the desktop when the hd is unplugged. I am assuming that you've already addressed that issue since you are adding that in the next version.

Little Extra Preview

I just like this new feature really much myself, so I made a little video from it :)

Always disliked how you have to install all files for a desklet yourself? Always confused where to extract the skins, desklets, images et cetera to? Here's the solution:

Watch The Preview Video (DivX 5.02 needed, 1.1Mb)

This video will show you the Installer in AveDesk 1.2 at work. You don't have to extract ZIP-files anymore yourself (*1), simply drag-'n-drop the file to the AveDesk control panel and it will automatically be installed for you. The author of the file can add extra options to show a splashscreen on install - as in the preview movie.

Notes:

*1) That is, if these ZIP-files are prepared the right way; they must have an avedesk_installer.xml file inside the archive.

cant wait for the release......

#245599

thats really a feature i was waiting for ! and as i see you also integrated the option to convert all desktop icons automatically in avedesk icons, marvelous !

just great, makes things much easier.

#245820

indeed. very cool.

#245842

Cheers for Ave !!

I really can't wait for the option of saving text in Notes whitout doing a Saving Configuration trick (futhermore after I disable my toolbar)

#245885

Dear Ave,

I like so much to play coloring the images and I found a bug.

When I save the config, the saturation value goes right in the config file. But when I shut down AveDesk and start again, it doesn't read back the value of it, so the icon becomes grayscale.

I can't wait till 1.2 comes out :-)

Thanks for this great program!

#245939

just wondering what the memory foorprint for this release is?

#246625

Ave, this newest easy-installation of desklets may be a HUGE deal for a lot of members new and/or uncomfortable with this sort of customization. Great idea and implementation.

#246888

Yes, the new installation method IS huge. Im having trouble this minute installing some desklets and its driving me nuts.

#246896

Seems like there's going to be a lot of nice new features... maybe this should be called AveDesk 2? ;)

#246898

Hey there,

Just one more question... (I'd be willing to beta test to make sure it works properly, if needed) will the user be able to specify which hotkey Showcase will react to? The F8 key that is currently assigned to AveFocus is one that I need for another program that I use, so I've unforutately been unable to use AveFocus.

Cheers!
