happy festival of lights!
from watching the movie lilo and stich that's how i first heared the word honica and learned what it was. or what ever it's spelled as.
 Um. Are you serious? That's like spelling Christmas "crismuss."
It's not a hard word to spell--in fact, there are as many different ways of spelling it as you like. But the spellings aren't arbitrary... they correspond to actual letters with actual sounds. You can't just... make up a word.
A "ch" letter, an "n" letter, a "u" letter, a "c/k" letter, and an "h" letter. With the vowels, they sound out "cha - nu - kah". You even get the "ch" to work with--since there's no "ch" letter in English, you can just use "h" for convenience. So, Chanukah or Hanukah. And since it's all transliterated from Hebrew, you have your choice of one n or two. Chanukah or Hanukah, Channukah or Hannukah.
common stop making fun of me! i can spell HANNUKAH ok? it took me some practice yesterday...
